Quinn Ewers

"Recently, as I've competed alongside my teammates during my junior season at Southlake Carroll, I've also taken some time to think about my future. Given the COVID-19 pandemic facing us, this has been a challenging year for students like myself, with the support of my family, I tried to navigate the recruiting process the best way I could. With the process being abnormal this season, I tried my best to keep an open mind to all possibilities. However, the more I've considered the more I've come to realize I didn't explore all options as thoroughly as I would have liked. Therefore, I've decided to de-commit and reassess the situation before making such an important decision on my future. I would like to thank the University of Texas for their belief in me and my abilities. I understand this year has been challenging for the coaches and administrators as well, so I appreciate their understanding and wish them the best in their future. My family and I also think Texas Longhorn fans were their interest in support. I will soon have a firm decision on where I will spend the next few formative years of my life and career and I look forward to sharing that with you."

That's a damn good kiss-off letter! He damn sure don't want any of this shit going on,,,

This is Mack Browns fault for not stepping down gracefully and letting Saban take the program . No telling how much money this has already cost and more to come .

JaTavian Sanders is next. We will be left with a mix of 3 stars and maybe low end 4 stars. We will have TCU/Tech talent recruits without the coaching staff that can develop them.

But hey....the players have the power!
We could tell our new 1 and 2 star recruits, "ya'll can protest whatever and whenever you want and if you don't like the Logo on your helmet, then protest that too! We don't like practice much anyway, so protesting is fun!"

Now I see the Blame the UT Fans is on twitter for decommits, it is our fault for the players sucking on the field. Dammit i am always messing things up. If I had not been so critical, I bet our Safety would have made a tackle instead of taking the wrong angle, again.

Sadly I think you are on to something here. But I believe once a credible staff arrives, this can be corrected fairly quickly.

It's political at this point. This is going to be a Chernobyl style meltdown. It's best to vacate the area before it happens. Remove all financial commitments, drop off your gear at the salvation army, and I put my diploma in the attic.... One day when by chance Texas is good again, my great-grandchildren may find it and feel some kind of association with UT Austin.

So what pushed Ewers over the edge and made him decommit? What changed in the last couple of weeks that made him back out? It's not like we're getting blown out and Herman has been on the hot seat since TCU. He has a whole year before he has to sign, why the urgency? Besides other schools negative recruiting Texas here are a couple of possibilities:

1) Herman knows he is getting fired and quit recruiting and may even attempt to sabotage things with recruits on his way out.
2) The current players are telling recruits not to come.
3) Other teams are starting their bag campaigns and he can't cash in unless he's free to take visits knowing he can come back if the right coach is hired.
4) He doesn't want to be thrown in the middle of controversy about if he will sing the school song or not. I mean, if you stay for the song you piss off some of your teammates and if you don't you piss off the fans. Why would anyone as a player want to mess with it when you have other options.

Is this for real?

then there is the guy on the radio that said Herman was saying bad stuff about Ewers that led to his decomitment.

On 104.9, Trey Elling just said that he's hearing in recruiting circles that Herman has been saying some negative things about Ewers, and that stuff got back to the Ewers family and that's how all of this came about. Also said that Herman made no effort to rectify the comments or keep him committed. I'm officially on the "he knows his fate and he's burning the place down on his way out."

if ya cant trust Surley who can ya trust?

Christ Del Conte has an obligation to rectify this now! Fire CDC as well.

Actually, this smells like the BMD's spreading disinfo to poison the well. They want him gone and someone is waiting in the wings.

I just copied and pasted that because I found myself reading a soccer thread and decided that I must no longer have any credibility either....

Something doesn’t square up for me. 1st or 2nd rated prospect nationally .... what is there to say negatively? Not defending CTH, but it doesn’t make sense. You don’t necessarily have to blow rainbows up a recruit’s behind, but if this is true then it speaks volumes and he should go now.

I think what it comes down to is that TH is a drunk, shit bag. He is arrogant and off putting.

Can’t wait to say good riddance. He is worse than Charlie and I’m sorry for disagreeing with KC on that.
