1. I know the Star position is a very difficult position with a lot of nuance. It is just not a nickel safety or slot corner. I watch Guilbeau play and I can never decide if he is one of our 5 best DBs. Or if he is just the best option at Star.
2. Speaking of Guilbeau, he was completely picked on Clemson’s first touchdown. That was OPI, but I have never understood that rule.
3. I can’t wait to see Manny Muhammad’s PFF grade from last night. I think he was getting cooked by Klubnik and TJ Moore. @Manolo thinks otherwise. Not that Manny’s coverage was bad. But he was not a shutdown corner either.
4. I don’t think Taafe, Mukuba, Barron, or McDonald had great games but at the same time they still limited huge plays against a great QB and some really good WRs and a huge TE.
5. I saw quite a bit of barking/postplay “discussion” amongst our DBs. They seemed upset about the number of yards they were giving up, but they have to understand Klubnik threw it 43 times.
Bonus DB point: #7 for Clemson needs to recalibrate his angle based on his speed and the speed of the RB he is trying to tackle. Because he is going to have nightmares about the angle-killing speed of Jaydon Blue.
