The Texas Longhorns will host a junior day on February 27, and one of the biggest names planning to attend is Wylie East's Eno Benjamin.

A four-star prospect, Benjamin has been on recruiting radars for a while, including that of the Longhorns. He's one of the top overall prospects in the state of Texas and already holds more than 20 offers. The Longhorns have yet to offer, but Benjamin is hoping that changes soon, possibly on his junior day visit.

Key quote: "Before coach (Jay) Norvell left, he was telling me to get down there. But don't know what that means, if they'll offer or not."

In transition: Benjamin's primary recruiters for the Longhorns had been Tommie Robinson, now at Southern Cal, and Jay Norvell, now at Arizona State. With a new position coach in Anthony Johnson and a major overhaul to the Texas coaching staff, Benjamin is anxious to got to Austin to meet the new UT coaches. Benjamin said the only thing he knows about Johnson at this point is that he played at Texas, but he's looking forward to getting acquainted with the new Texas assistant coach.

"I guess you would say, my main (objective at the junior day) is to meet the new staff," Benjamin said. "I had developed a relationship with coach Robinson, had been talking to coach Norvell a lot. Now that both are gone, it will be a good time to meet the new coaches, talk to coach (Charlie) Strong."

Busy spring schedule: The day after visiting Texas, Benjamin will go to Texas A&M for a junior day visit. He has already visited SMU. In March, over his spring break, Benjamin will head north and plans to visit Michigan, Ohio State, Northwestern, Iowa and Kansas.

"Really I just want to get out and see a lot of things, see what they have to offer," Benjamin said of his spring campus tour.

Two standing out: It's still very early and Benjamin is keeping an open mind, but he lists Michigan and Iowa as two schools that are standing out. His thoughts on both ...

Michigan - "Really, it's just what they want to do with me. I feel like coach (Jim) Harbaugh is on the verge of turning that program into a national championship contender."

Iowa - "I felt like they're really committed to me. These last four weeks when coaches could get out, Iowa was down here every single week. That kind of shows how bad they want me. And I think I would fit in well in their scheme."

Where Texas fits: The Longhorns have yet to offer, but if that changes, look for Texas to move up his list and into that early grouping of favorites.

"If I end up getting Texas (offer) they'll be up there," Benjamin said. "They just pulled together a nice 2016 class. I'm good with some of the guys who just now committed, as well as Malik Jefferson."
