13 missed tackles vs. the land thieves.
We also had 13 missed tackles vs. Kansas.
We had 17 vs. Alabama.
This defense is fools gold man

Red showed out some in the Spring game and has looked good a few times during the season. Him getting some more touches may be nice.Brooks did gain 129 yards so he did his part. He also carried the ball 22 times so it's not like he was ignored. But we need somebody to spell Brooks. Now whoever that is we need find him.
Remember Tyrone Swoopes Diesel package? Pure power pile driverMalik isn’t mobile, but he is a load. Quinn is more mobile or the same as Malik, I believe
That running into the kicker call lost us the game.I 100% believe if we don’t hit the kicker and give them a free first down we win the game.
youre still thinking of Murphy as Swoopes or VY because hes big and black. The dude isnt mobile. Red needs the job.Remember Tyrone Swoopes Diesel package? Pure power pile driver

The area you mention OU winning...the winner of this game has always been historically the team that runs the ball better. We had more than you guys. Whether it's the QB or RB or WR, that doesn't matter. We ran well enough with our RBs to keep the chains moving.Just finished the film.
Removing the emotion, this is a simple game to explain.
Texas out gained ou.
Texas out passed ou.
These out time of possession ed ou.
3rd down conversion were equal 5-14
Texas went 3-4 on 4th downs and ou went 0-1
Ou won in only 3 areas.
Rushing.
Ou qb went for 112.
Texas Brooks went for 129.
The collective OU backfield added another 88 yards. Not impressive numbers- but enough.
Penalties-- Texas shot their own toes off. 9 for 70 yards. Unacceptable.
Ou had just 4 for 30.
Turnovers. Texas 2 picks. 1 fumble.
Ou none.
The most devastating of these is the third. In a turnover free game, based on the average yards per play, Texas scores a minimum of 13 more points. Even if you leave the OU points on the board they benefited FROM the turnovers- Texas still wins this game by 2 scores.
Yes, Sark made some sh!tty play calls. Very sh!tty--- but even with those play calls, if Texas doesn't turn the ball over-- based simply on the mathematics of football-- Texas wins the game handily.
It's difficult to win a game against an average team with 3 turn overs. Ou is above average-- this isn't a "normal" game atmosphere.
Bottom line is-- we beat ourselves.
And hey @MiccoMacey Peyton Bowen is as good as advertised. And is Ted Roof better than I thought? The area you mention OU winning...the winner of this game has always been historically the team that runs the ball better. We had more than you guys. DG had the most yards for us, but well over 1/3 of his yards came on one carry, that led to zero points for OU (we missed a FG). It flipped the field for us, but you drove the field and scored a TD right after that. It had zero impact on the game other than it gave us another first down.
Both teams played an excellent game. Both teams left points on the field. It's going to be a great rematch if both teams get to the CCG.
Man, Bowen's going to be a superstar. So glad we stole him from Notre Dame at the last moment. And hey @MiccoMacey Peyton Bowen is as good as advertised. And is Ted Roof better than I thought?
After last year Venables really needed this win our schools are going to the major leagues next year. After last year he has to show he's ready just like Sarkisian. I did notice that Oklahoma finished 6th in recruiting rankings last year I don't think many Texas fans did.Man, Bowen's going to be a superstar. So glad we stole him from Notre Dame at the last moment.
Roof? Everything I hear is BV's calling the plays on defense. I think Roof's strength is that he knows the defense so well so he can help make sure it's run well in practice. But BV has said as much that he's making the calls (at least reading into some of his statements).
DG had the most yards for us,
Yes but also the first qb among either team to do that in this gameOne thing I saw after the game, and it was kind of surprising, but Gabriel became the first quarterback in OU history to rush for over 100 yards and pass for over 250 yards in a game against Texas.

No way?
VY? Colt?
I figured Jason White would’ve done that 250/100
Doooooo blocked punts count on the stat sheet as turnovers?
I don't think they do.
I dunno, i didnt do the research, I just believed the person who told me. sounds right thoNo way?

he sure made up for missing last year's gameI was not aware of that. I figured some Longhorn QB like Vince Young, Colt McCoy or Sam Ehlinger might have also done it. But you're right.
he sure made up for missing last year's game
Lucky we got Gabriel who set his own record in the seriesDavis Beville did pass for 38 yards in last year's game, so he surpassed J.C. Watts' 30 yards in the 1979 game.
