just a quick question guys.....i havnt been on here much lately, are we not allowed to even discuss recruiting on the free boards anymore?

Not much to talk about. Most of the class signed on the early sign day. A few more guys will sign in feb but the bulk of the work is done.

O and D line are horrible in state this year. Herman addressed this during signing day press conference. They got the top OL and DL in state and then are forced to have to go out of state and that’s always tough.

The D line and O line

Disagree on the O-line. We signed 3 4 star OTs. Ranked as the 11th, 20th and 23rd best tackles in the nation. Angilau ranks better than any O-linemen in the state of Texas. There are only 3 O-linemen ranked better than Ghirmai and Reese Moore in Texas. One is Luke Matthews so he was TAMU from the start, Colten Blanton seemed to be a TAMU kid as well. For some reason we didn't seem too interested in Darrell Simpson.

We also inked a JUCO, Mikey Grandy, which is probably the most important signing for immediate impact. And Herman already stated that they will be looking for possible grad transfers to help out.

It will of course need to be a position of emphasis next year (heck, every year really). In the 2019 class the big fish is OT Kenyon Green (recent LSU decommitment) and number 9 overall recruit from Humble. Kardell Thomas is the overall number 16 player and top guard. He is an LSU commit from Baton Rouge but has some serious interest in Texas, we will keep on him. Tyler Johnson from Conroe is the 25th best OT and a early Texas lean. EJ Ndoma-Ogar is a top guard from Allen. Branson Bragg is the number 1 center and a strong Texas lean early. Brannon Brown is the number 36 tackle and will be an important target as well.

True, but a lot more work to be done. There’s a lot to like about the class, but the staff has utterly failed on the DL so far.

I think it is a bit too early to judge the D-line. A big part depends on Keondre Coburn. If he inks with us, we just signed the top defensive linemen in the state. We would have loved Bobby Brown but Bama came calling and that's tough. We still have a shot at Joseph Ossai. Max Wright seemed all aggy and I don't even know about Jarell Cherry.

The grade is incomplete at this point. Wait to see what happens with Coburn and Ossai. We will look to close on some guys that have come on lately in Moro Ojomo, Courtre Alexander and Daniel Carson.

I kinda feel as if Herman did his job pretty well on the O line. Angilau, Ghirmai, and Moore are all 4 stars and that’s probably about as good as he can do this year

I think our strong WR and DB class has made the O-line look worse by comparison. 3 4 stars and a JUCO in a down year in the state. Pulled one of those 4 stars out of Utah and away from the local teams. Not bad.

I agree other than OU the rest of this conference isn't just loading up on OL. In a vacuum there is nothing wrong with our OL recruiting, but in the context of having no depth and few quality starters on the roster this class is just drops in the bucket. But that is just the nature of the beast you aren't getting instant impact with OL recruits.

Yeah, I think this class will help form a core of our o-line come 2020. Ghirmai or Angilau may end up with some early playing time but that would not be ideal.

Mikey Grandy is the instant impact and will likely compete for a spot in the two deep this spring. I'm glad to know that the staff is going to be checking out the grad transfer options as well. A serviceable tackle would be nice.
