The general consensus seems to be that refs are getting WORSE compared to any previous time period. I'm not sure that's the case and some questions I'd ponder are:

1) Does high definition + more camera angles just highlight bad calls that in the 90s would have gone unnoticed?
2) Do non-common sense rules (Dez Bryant catch as example) make the ref's job harder?


Assuming the refs ARE getting worse. What do we do about it?

From my understanding most refs are not full-time. I think most are lawyers (or at least thats the largest crossover).

I assume they are training, watching film etc...

Is there an actual way to make the general public consensus of refs to be better than it is?

If there were a "ref review" and you saw refs graded on their correct call %, would that help? (my personal opinion is that major college and NFL refs probably would get 95% of calls correct).
