All running events are preliminary except for the 3200 - all running finals tomorrow
4x100 1st Ft. Bend Marshall 40.33 (zero competition)
shot 10th Michael Fasusi 50'.5"; 1st Evan Martinez 67'7.5"
100 Kendrick Jones, one of the state's top sprinters false started and was DQed
LJ 1st Dakorien Moore 24'.75"
6 team from region 2 6A ran under 41.0 in the 4x100. The Woodlands won heat 1 in 40.9, and Duncanville won heat 2 in 40.35. Conroe (Dorian Brew) ran 40.75. Klein Forest ran 40.44 despite the fact that Jelani Watkins abandoned them in favor of Atascocita.
39.94 ATASCOCITA
2nd North Shore 39.96
3rd Katy Tompkins 40.33
4th Ridge Point 40.81
10 teams under 41 flat in the regional prelims - unbelievable!
Tanook Hines topped Caden Durham in the 100 prelims 10.45 to 10.48. You had to run 10.64 or better to make the 100 final in region 2.
Tyler Grant 1st discus 192'5" still not as good as Benjamin Shue (NJ) who committed to the Horns yesterday. He has thrown 200'3" so far as a junior. The Woodlands 1st in the 4x200 1:23.73 ahead of Duncanville's 1:26.08 (4th)
Region 4 produced some top marks today. Tate Taylor, the Harlan soph had the fastest times I’ve seen today 10.29 in the 100 and 20.74 in the 200. Round Rock ran 3:15 for the 4x400, the best I’ve seen so far…. I was surprised that Jacob Henry got out in the shot, 57’6.75”. That won’t place at state, but it was a big PR for Mark’s son. Also UT signee Sam Abati vaulted 17’3”, the best I’ve seen.
