There's a huge mess in College Football. I think we all agree on that. It makes no sense that USC and UCLA are in the Big10 or Stanford and Cal are playing in a conference with the word "Atlantic" in it. It is the product of a really poorly coordinated and inept NCAA with very little proper planning. It also makes no sense for Rutgers to be in the same league as tOSU.

If you're a school like Illinois, Colorado St, Wyoming, SDSU, etc. you have almost zero chance to win a national champion ship. At best you might be able to win your conference and play in a shitty bowl game in Mobile Alabama on December 15th.

If the NCAA were to be divided into tiers of 32 teams with a relegation and promotion system, I think we'd see a much better product. How that formula for rankings is teased out would need to be discussed.

Every 4 years, the bottom 6 teams are dropped down to the tier below them and the top 6 teams from the lower tier advance. So now all of a sudden if you're at the top of the 2nd tier, you've got a competitive situation going on.

Let's face it, Tulsa has no shot at ever winning a Natty in this day and age. Them being involved in this 130 team league gives them nothing to play for but some shitty conference championship that no one cares about and maybe some crappy bowl game.

Relegation and Promotion don't work in the professional leagues in the USA, but college football is perfectly setup for it.
