In an effort to criminalize Trump's attempt to overturn the 2020 election result, some democrats are now calling for the criminal prosecution of Republicans who submitted themselves as alternate state electors last December to certify Trump and Pence as the winners.
Several states, including Georgia, Wisconsin, Arizona and Pennsylvania submitted alternate electors.
A democrat group called Law Forward is leading the effort in Wisconsin to prosecute the alternate electors.
It's not clear why we would prosecute the citizens who stood as alternate electors but not the GOP legislators who voted for them and sent their credentials to congress.
