Feels like yesterday we had posters littered throughout this site claiming Sark’s record prior to coaching here was an indictment on his coaching abilities. Hell, even after his 2nd year you had posters here taking a victory lap and pounding the drum for us to move on from Sark. Can you imagine where we’d be right now if they were in charge?

It always shocked me that those posters couldn’t, or didn’t want to, take context into account when looking at Sark’s head coaching record. For me the signs of him being a great coach were always there. The guy took over an 0-12 Washington team and in one year almost had them at .500, then by the time he left he had them at 8-4 and positioned to be a relevant contender in the conference for the foreseeable future. Then he takes over a USC team that was in turmoil and facing sanctions from the NCAA, but still managed to recruit at an ELITE level and seemed to have them positioned to start turning things around before his demons got the best of him.

He’s one of the most brilliant offensive minds across all levels of the sport and seems to have an eye for hiring quality coaches in the spots that he maybe isn’t considered elite. Even in his first two years here it was quite clear (to me at least) that we were heading in the right direction, and we just needed to stay the course. I feel extremely lucky that we have Sark leading the way and I hope like hell he’s here for at least another decade, because we will be doing a hell of a lot of winning during that time if he is.

Thank you Sark for bringing us out of the dark ages!! Texas football is elite again, and the college football world is finally on notice🤘
