I have flown almost five million miles. But my first flight ever was on Southwest. I was 17 years old, had just graduated high school, and just for the hell of it I fly from Austin to Dallas and back on Southwest. This was in 1981, and it was the coolest day of my life up until then.
At one point SW was a lot of fun to fly, they were cheap, and easy to get on and off.
Those days are long gone. They are often more expensive than AA or Delta. They are tons more expensive than the Spirits and Frontiers of the world, but their frequent flier program sucks (no upgrades, no international partners).
And toddy they announced they are now going to start charging for bags, they will have basic economy, etc. Basically a giant Spirit that might or might not fall apart if it snows somewhere.
What happened to your airline Herb?
