Here is a press release just sent out by UT:

"Texas running back/kick returner Roderick Bernard had successful surgery to repair ligaments in his left knee and will be sidelined for the 2016 season. Bernard, who played in 10 games last season, primarily on special teams, sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the same knee as a true freshman in 2014 and missed the final five games of that season."
