Standard operations for ou and ou football in particular. If he had punched my daughter I would be in jail right now. A lot of men taking up for him should think about it being their daughter getting knocked out or their mom when they were younger.

They can control the media in Norman. They tried to control the media here and it upset the national media. It might get more scrutiny. Especially if they make the NC game.

The video (which by all accounts is pretty damning) might be coming out. And when that happens, it is much tougher to cover it all up and just let him have a RS year as punishment.

what a smug prick....they are talking about how big a pr disaster is was yesterday on the sports shows here in okc today. If he had not been allowed to speak then they would have been fined by the bowl committee, they should have paid the fine and kept that dickhead behind a curtain for the whole day.

That OR they simply could have coached him to answer the questions with respect.

But the way they told the media if they asked about it, that they'd be kicked out.......it started a feeding frenzy. Before he went on, there were media guys tweeting "screw OU, I need an early lunch break anyway". And then you saw what happened. It will be interesting to see if more comes out.

Crazy that Mayfield answered questions about his dance moves viral video from one year ago while he was RS'ing. But Mixon couldn't answer questions about RS'ing because he crushed a girls face one year ago. Shame on OU. I sorta hope they win now, just so that this story gets bigger and Stoops has to face a story that he has trying to control by burying it with local guys that bend to his whim.

OU should have to answer for it. It is shameful to not only keep a kid for such a reprehensible act (merely bc he was talented), but to cover it up and to call a RS a penalty (this is nothing new at OU but really no other schools do it....because it is sick and RS'ing is not punishment).

And OU fans and alum and staff should be ashamed. It should have never gotten to this for a lot of reasons and in a lot of different scenarios to squash it properly. But not that it has, I am getting my popcorn ready. If they lose, well at least OU loses. If the win, we get round 2 of this.

I'd bet there is someone in that room from small town media USA that is back at home looking in to this story as we type.

Alright. The reason Mixon should not be punished for punching a woman that slapped at him is because she is not a woman. She is a "person". We do not differentiate between men and women in a gender blind and ethnically blind society. There are no Mr, or Mrs, or Sir anymore. By calling someone a man or woman, that insults and hurts the feelings of people who suffer from gender confusion or gender uncertainty. Like Bruce/Katelyn. So Mixon actually did not strike a "female", Mixon instead struck a gender neutral person. We are all equal you know.

Meanwhile, UT just finished a 5-7 Season with no Bowl invite due to APR and is currently #52 in Recruiting Rankings. Let's not talk about that though, OU is much more important.........

Yeah so we are doing plenty of talking about UT, in other threads about UT or recruiting or coaching.

This was a thread on national news talking about Mixon yesterday.

Ok guys, I know its lots a fun piling on Blow U n all that . . . hell, I put that little game 2nd only to making fun of the faegs over at ATM.

But lets be real 4 a second about whats going on here. This is nothing more than a targeted hit piece from an adult national journalist on a dumb as nails kiddy football player.

This jack wagon PC journalist has an agenda and thats to make a name for himself by writing about a big mean football player. Mixon has every right to tell him to f%ck off.

Why doesn't this writer ask the girl Mixon hit if she still gets drunk off her ass every weekend? Answer: that narative won't sell copy.

This story is old news and Mixon has paid his dues . . . how long r we gonna keep chirping about it? 5 yrs, 10 yrs, 20 yrs from now? Hows about when Joe is on his death bed? Is that enough time to let sleeping dogs lye?

Good grief, lets talk about some UT football and our next recruiting class!

So I see this story as more than that.

Sure this board chirping about it, is somewhat sour grapes.

The national media covered this, because some of them just found out about it for the first time. And when the OU pr staff forewarned the media that they had to act like the local Norman news and not ask any questions about this......well they didn't cave......and instead did their jobs.

Multiple people asked him questions. It wasn't one hack. Multiple writers were upset that at an open media portion of a big event, they were all of the sudden censored. No OU member said don't ask Erik Striker who his favorite football player was when he was 8 yrs old or that stuff from a year ago that is silly like Mayfield dancing video....can't be talked about because its old news. All that stuff was random and indeed talked about.

OU just didn't want them to dig up the dirt on Mixon because they don't want that story to hit the national public. Because they should be embarrassed by how they handled it all along. And if one media member gets riled up and finds the video, Bob doesn't want to address how a RS is not a punishment and he doesn't want to risk losing a talented player.

This is all relevant new stuff to an incident that was darkened a year ago but should have had more public scrutiny on it.

It's possible to talk about more than one thing. Truly. This story was in the news yesterday as well. Seems like you're ashamed about it at least so that's a good thing.

It is a relevant story because of the way OU handled the press on this issue. Don't forget the QB @ FSU was kicked off the team for a similar incident. The fact that the video was not released to the public and only to the OK press has to raise eyebrows. Also, why not say "I apologize for this incident + we moved on." I don't think the media lets it sit. He really was not punished by the school just redshirted. Probably 50% of freshman redshirt.

the story is not over. She is filing a lawsuit against mixon and if that goes to trial I think they will eventually have to release that video. A civil trial will open all kinds of publicity and unless mixon has a hundred grand or so laying around to pay her off it will end up in a trial.
 
Guys get real, Mixon and OU are lawyered up to the hilt pending a civil suit. They have been told,No Comment. If Mixon says anything now, it will come back at him in court. This dye has been cast since the incident.

There's a reason the moron doesn't wish to speak of the incident. He cant put a coherent sentence together. He's an embarrassment to o.u. but they could care less and never have or will.
 
Any guy that punches a girl in the face with a closed fist should be sent to prison.

Mixon is a hazard to society. He used deadly force. He is a NCAA division 1A scholarship running back. Compare his size and athletic conditioning to a girl on the street. This is assault, battery, and attempted manslaughter. No excuse for this behavior.

This story is scummy on so many levels: OU fans excusing it and blaming the girl, Bob Stoops not giving a gee whiz about girls getting beat up, Norman fanboy judge, attorney, police and bar owner all hiding the tape, the fact that violence against women up there has become commonplace and accepted... Disgusting and shameful.

A little harder? He broke 4 bones, knocked her down, and knocked her out. I was slapped by an exgirlfriend (in high school), so hard that my ears started ringing and my cheek got hot. I did not hit her. I grabbed her hands, and walked her out of my house, and shut the door (with me inside and her outside). It is never permissible to hit a girl with a closed fist.

If that was my daughter, Mixon would need to watch his back forever. I will protect and defend my family with the same intensity that I protect (support) & defend the Constitution of the United States.

One day the video will come out. It is a matter of how that timing works out. Maybe Mixon will be a running back for the Ravens by then.
