Why is it legal to hit someone in the endzone after they have made a touchdown? As soon as someone is in posession of the football in the endzone, or crosses the plane, the ball is dead. Yet it's common that the ball carrier will take a big shot even after the plane is crossed or reception is made. If this happened at the sideline, it's be a 15 yard personal foul.

Why is it different?

Thanks and Hook 'Em.
