"sacred election"

Thought the phrasing was interesting. I don't ever recall an election being referred to that way.

It made me think of Lincoln's inaugural address. At a reception after the swearing in, he spoke with Frederick Douglass for the last time. Lincoln asked what he thought of the speech. Douglass replied that he thought it was "a sacred effort".

Don't know why I posted this, and it doesn't mean anything I suppose, but I thought it was interesting to think about another president sending the same word out instantly to millions today.
