I don’t understand the hype around this guy. He is 6’4” & 225 pounds, maybe it’s the measureables?

Yes, its the measurables. That's what the NFL guy look at.
Jared Goff really never looked like he was that special at Cal but he had the NFL skillset. JT Barrett is by far the better CFB QB in tonight's game but Darnold will have the better NFL career.

Darnold has the measurables but hasn’t shown that he is an elite talent & winner. Where are the stats? Where is his ability to will his team to victory over good teams?

Errrrrr....... uhhhhhhh.......wut? You serious Clark? Goff was a freakishly talented college QB that I championed well before we played cal a few years back. He had all the intangibles including the fastest release time recorded in college since dan Marino.

Now granted, he didn't know that the sun rose in the east (fvcking millinials) but that dude had alllllllllllll the tools he needed.

Prefer he go pro don't really want to face him next year.

Dude had 22 turnovers this past year (13 ints and 9 fumbles). The turnovers against us this past season are what kept us in the game (and allowed our defense to put up some points). I'm not sure who they have behind him (and I would rather play a green QB) but if he comes back, you can bet Todd Orlando and Co. will be keyed into forcing turnovers

Darnold is a good QB but the media hyped him up to much. Just like Texas, expectations were to high. In my opinion he needs another year of development before going to the NFL. Although I would like to see him go so we don’t see him next season....

I think the only issue with him was his hand was small

Look whose picking at the top of the draft.. Cleveland and most likely the Giants. Darnold and Rosen are the top two guys. This is the case where you want to be #2

Rosen appears to be a much more NFL ready player than Darnold. NFL scouts are saying they like the upside of Darnold. They are saying he has a higher ceiling and a lower floor than Rosen. Rosen has a higher floor but a lower ceiling.

I'd come back to school before risking being selected by Cleveland.

Darnold hype is mostly from his 2016 campaign when there wasn't much film on him and he was playing really well. The shine had worn off Rosen so they need to attach it to someone else.

He had a 14-23 record as a college starter. Looking back his stats were decent in a pass happy Sonny Dykes offense. I wasn't that optimistic about his pro career but Sean McVay has done a great job with him and no question he has the NFL measureables.

His Cal teams sucked but his numbers were a little better than decent. I mean come on. If this is a decent season to you regardless of offense, then I don't know what to say.

64.5 %
4714 yards
43 TDs
13 Ints

yes that is a very good season. I guess this is more of an indictment of sonny dykes as a coach. However, there was much talk of Goff having a high bust factor and he didn't show anything in his rookie year to dispel that. A lot of that is on Jeff Fisher. The work Mcvay has done with him has been remarkable.

as clob said, goff was clearly special in college. and don't let your last image of darnold fool you-- darnold is the real deal too. and whoever said they would pick rosen over darnold is why there are the patriots and why, at the same time, given the same resources and information, there is also the browns.

I heard on the radio that SD had declared for the draft. No surprise everyone knew he would. But he looks like he's overweight, and out of shape. Or is it just me?
