Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger addressed the media on Tuesday before practice, and here are the highlights from his weekly press conference.

--- Ehlinger was asked if the loss against Oklahoma lingered longer since it is a rivalry game, and he reminded everyone of their 24-hour rule. He said, “That emotion doesn't help us win the next week, so why would I carry that on?”

--- When asked what happened in the run game on Saturday, Ehlinger said, “I don’t know. I’m focused on Kansas right now.”

--- Ehlinger was asked what he wants to correct in his game, and he said, “Everything. Just like it is every single time that I'm asked that question. I can always improve in every area.”

--- Ehlinger likes the fight and mentality he has seen from his team in six games this season. However, he wants his squad to eliminate the self-inflicted wounds.

--- Ehlinger has sustained rib and shoulder injuries this season, but said neither is affecting him right now. In fact, Ehlinger said he feels great.

--- Ehlinger on his team losing by only seven points after struggling during the game: “Every game this season there's been really good things, and then there's also the good things that have limited us in every single ball game. Like I said, I think we need to continue to eliminate those self-inflicted wounds, so we can continue to progress throughout the season.”

--- Ehlinger on what he can do better to prevent sacks: “Communication from the guys up front, between Shack [Zach Shackelford] and all those guys, the running backs, and the receivers. Just understanding where they're going to bring pressure, and get us in the best call possible. Get us on a call that is going to maximize the guys that we have out up front, but also get us in a position where we can probably get a running back out, or we don't lose him in the past game.”

--- Ehlinger’s on the season-ending injury of Lake Travis quarterback Hudson Card: “I feel for him, because you put so much work and effort into your high school career in the bond that you have with your brothers in high school. It's unlike anything else. I feel his pain. It’s extremely unfortunate to hear, but what you got to take a second to reflect on the things that he was able to do, all the positives that he brought to light at Lake Travis high school is tremendous. He's in a long line of successful quarterbacks at Lake Travis. It’s something for him to be proud of, and he also has an incredible opportunity for his team right now to continue to lead those guys. Although he might not be out on the field, but he has an opportunity to lead them with his voice. Not to mention, he has a great opportunity to continue to develop his leadership ability when he gets here. I know that's natural, and he's done a great job of leading those guys at Lake Travis, but he'll be able to continue to do that.”
