Was talking to one of my in-laws who is a big Bama donor. Asked him if he had heard the Sark to Texas rumors. He said he had then said they would gladly hire Herman if we took Sark. Said the coordinators aren’t that big of deal to them with Saban at the helm. Their culture drives more if the success than the individual coordinators do.

Thought it was interesting that they would be so eager to hire Herman if he were available.

It’s Saban. He’s right that the coordinators don’t matter that much when you have Saban at the helm.

Sark didn’t recruit the heisman winner either, Saban did.

They must love how Herman rotates our RB's LOL.

The Brockermeyer brothers being under Herman's tutelage would be kind of funny.

"Culture?" U mean the plethora of 5 and 4 stars and Saban.

By culture I think he means that Bama is all about playing football to your best ability. It's a professional environment. People forget Texas has had some highly ranked recruiting classes the last 10 years too.

Herman would cut practice film for Milroe, Earle and the Brockermeyers.

Good point, but some of them are now playing for Utah.

That and the fact their players aren't jumping ship every year.

They have some players jump ship but their 1st and 2nd stringers r awesome. WR Davonta Smith will probably be a top 5 pick and RB Harris is a 1st rounder. Smith would be awesome for my team (the Steelers) and many other teams desperate for a #1A or 1B receiver.

Herman was pretty good when he was "just" a coordinator. Honestly it would be good for him to be under Saban for a few years.
Where have we seen this??? What evidence is there

DEAL

ZFG where Mensa lands. He damn sure shit the bed offensively at TEXAS. . . .. see ISU game with CCG berth on the line.
True perhaps, but I also maintain that it was more ridiculous Ash couldn't find a way to stop that three tight end offense for four quarters, again with the game on the line. See that last ISU drive.

Doesn’t Alabama take in all sorts of head coaches after they get fired? This wouldn’t be surprising to me.

I'm sorry, we gave up 23 points. . . .23!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We should have won that game going away if our offense didn't shit the bed.

WHAT? Scoring 20 points against ISU at DKR didn't get your blood pumping?

It's stunning people cannot see that.

Defense played GREAT and shut down their outstanding RB.

He's right about the culture and HC driving their excellence, but they will not hire Herman. Maybe Yucich if the next coach doesn't keep him. Tom will end up at a lower ranked power 5 again if he wants to remain a HC. Sort of like Coach Muschamp getting the SC job after being dismissed by UF. I don't see him taking a OC job unless that is all he can get.

Hook'em

would be funny if that happened and then Herman is named the coach in waiting in a year - and then 10 years from now we're all wondering why we let him go.

Silly discussion OP. LOL at Herman taking an OC POSITION and big pay cut.

After being HC at Houston and HC at Texas, a school would hire Herman to be a HC.

Sark was a failure without a boss/HC. Saban keeps the program on track, including Sark. A fifth grader probably could call plays at Bama and win with Saban's 2020 talent.

I mean, they hired Strong as an analyst.

That’s what I’m saying, it’s the culture under Saban and Belichick that make these coordinators.
TCU said the same thing they would fire Patterson and hire Herman if that happens.

I think we just don’t appreciate and have zero patience and especially under a pandemic like 2020 year even more so.

Can Alabama win without Sarkisian? Yes,

Is Bama much better off with Sarkisian than other OC's? No.

Nick Saban loves Sarkisian. He took him ASAP after he got fired by the Falcons and is also the highest paid asst in the country for a reason.

He would not be easy to replace. Your in laws are dumb as f*ck.

He is over stating that. The coordinators do matter but culture is critical. I return to national reporters who have said and accurately so that Texas is inconsistent because they are continually in the fray and that is so because Tom is the fray.. We've seen recently that Texas own players have been negatively recruiting against the team and Tom. If Tom would take ownership of the negative realities that he is responsible for (and there are a lot of them) and apologize and mean it then maybe he could have a future at Texas.. But Tom won't own anything and I am tired of watching him be The Fray and in turn hurt Texas in year 4...

Winning championships has a tendency to get players to buy in and shut out the noise. Notice how many Alabama players were focused this off-season on Alabama’s (actually!) racist past?
