"Nothing has changed. On anything."
Those were the words from a high-level university source tonight with regards to Tom Herman's job status and the continued pursuit of former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer.
It seems as simple and sweet as this.
a. Meyer has still not given Texas an answer about his future.
b. Texas is waiting on Meyer. If he wants in, following his desired plan and schedule will matter.
c. I don't get the sense that anything is expected to happen this weekend, so everyone can chill out and probably retire the F5 key for a few days. There's a sense that if Meyer felt like there was a need for immediate urgency in the events that would need to unfold, he probably would have indicated it prior to this weekend.
d. There is a growing expectation, especially after today's win, that we're likely going to see the season completed next weekend before any fireworks take place.
e. Nothing about Herman's job status has changed.
f. Finally, I was told to take any name mentioned outside of Meyer as "background noise"
"If we have legit interest in someone, it does us zero favors to put an uncomfortable spotlight on them before their seasons end. The focus is on one place and the hope is that it remains that way." the source said.
