Say what we will about CDC, but

Well it goes 1 of 2 ways here considering this is CDC’s only football hire for his tenure at Texas
1. Sark is a success with multiple big 12 titles and CDC is a genius.
2. Sark shits the bed and is not successful, in which CDC not only made a terrible hire but he also is the reason we have a $30 million Herman/staff buyout. He’ll be shamed forever.

Almost everyone applauded the extension. Herman was hot when we hired him and stayed hit by making what seemed to be real strides. It’s expensive but not some rookie move.

I’m bullish on Sark because he has a tremendous story to sell for 2022 and will keep people like Thompson, card, Robinson etc fro Portaling.

I think if you read what Ketch has put out, this wasn’t really a CDC thing. He would have Herman back.
Ketch is 100% wrong about that. CDC was very much involved in this decision and it's been planned for quite awhile now. He has just kept a tight lid on any info out of his office this entire season. CDC and the BOR and the BMD's were all in the same page as far as Herman goes.

Hook'em

CDC got on the same page when he got told to get on the same page. To act like he was willing all along is pure BS

Not everybody. Common sense people pointed out that extensions like that are dumb and unnecessary and accomplish nothing but potentially giving you a future headache. I for one immediately slammed it.

This! Even to an outsider this was blatantly obvious. CDC towed the line and did it with a public smile of his face.

Turned out you were right. And it was bad deal ultimately. But everyone is making this out to be an inexplicably bad move, and it wasn’t. Herman was very likely to be was being courted given his success off the Georgia win. This is something that can become an issue in recruiting. He’s going to the NFL! Or whatever.

I was generally positive with it at the time. Did feel premature, but I also understood the value of having your coach in place.

But am I remembering it wrong? I felt like most people were generally positive about that? Or were there mor Sun TZus, and I’m getting old :)

it’s always a bad move. A coach is going to leave if he wants to. And everybody knows that. It does nothing for recruiting. That repeated mantra is just false. Adding years doesn’t change that. Just means you owe more money later

He played the role he was supposed to play. If you don’t think he’s aligned with Kevin, Jay and several key players, then your misinformed.

He’s aligned if you mean he was put in line. And that’s from a key player level 1

Yes, we will be the talk, but it will mostly be negative.

Aligned as in working together as a group to make the best decision for UT. These are all bright people, different backgrounds and personalities but share the common goal of returning the program to competing and winning championships. I don’t think anyone was “put in line” or sent to the corner.

If the dump Drayton there is a good chance Bijan leaves as well.

Agreed. I hope Sark brings Flood to replace Hand but that he keeps Ash and Drayton. Maybe Carrington too. I’m ambivalent about the rest of the staff.
