--- According to one source, both Tyrone Swoopes and Shane Buechele made plays today and overall the offense looked much better than last week when the defense dominated.

Two sources indicated that Swoopes had the better day of the two. He made plays downfield in the passing game and we continue to hear that he is doing a good job of eliminating mistakes that have plagued him in the past. Will it carry over to games? Not sure, but he did well in today's scrimmage setting.

--- Jerrod Heard had another good day at receiver (Strong mentioned he had a 50-yard TD). One person said John Burt has been the star of the camp, but Heard and Collin Johnson had really good days on Saturday.

One source mentioned the depth of the wide receiver position was on full display today. He didn't give any real specifics in terms of plays, but mentioned several "non-starters" were heavily involved in the scrimmage.

--- Tristan Nickelson continues to miss action with an ankle sprain. We mentioned in the War Room that we heard the injury wasn't as serious as it looked initially and Charlie Strong said today that Nickelson is expected back next week. Brandon Hodges has been working in front of Denzel Okafor in Nickelson's absence and did so again today. Expect Nickelson to slide back into the starting role when he gets back.

--- D'Onta Foreman and Chris Warren returned to action earlier this week and both participated in Saturday's scrimmage. They didn't get a ton of work but one source said they both looked good on Saturday and appear to be fully healthy.

--- One person told me it was "basically a wash" when I asked who won the day, offense or defense.

--- One source singled out Charles Omenihu as having a good day. Omenihu is working with the starters.

--- The freshmen defensive tackles continue to progress and they made some plays today. D'Andre Christmas is the name mentioned most and one person said he had a good day on Saturday. The person I spoke with said Christmas' first step was giving the back-up interior offensive linemen troubles and he made at least two stops in the backfield today.

--- Charlie Strong mentioned in his presser that DeShon Elliott has lost weight and is looking good. He apparently got plenty of work today, but it's still Jason Hall and Dylan Haines running with the first team.

--- As mentioned previously, Erick Fowler was in shorts so he didn't participate in the scrimmage. He should be worked into full contact drills beginning on Monday.

--- Text of the day ... not from a normal source, but thought it was interesting.

"T.S. is #1 QB." Followed up by "TS is lead dawg and is battle tested."

This person isn't saying a starter has been named and he went on to mention things can always change in a hurry, but he seems to feel it's trending towards Swoopes.
