- Another big week in Mobile is underway for the Senior Bowl and we have three Longhorns in attendance, WRs Collin Johnson and Devin Duvernay as well as S Brandon Jones, and although Jones will not be participating in drills this week, he is here to interview with teams.

- I was able to grab Jones in the lobby of the team hotel yesterday and ask what was up. His missing of the Alamo Bowl had nothing to do with the concussion suffered in the regular season finale but rather with a shoulder. After the season, he had a minor procedure on his labrum. So, while he is still technically able to run and jump and train for draft testing, he's unable to do bench press or live 1v1 drills at his training center. While he didn't say so specifically, I feel like his ability to test at the combine is in doubt as he said the aiming point in rehab is to be 100% in all capacities by the Pro Day so he can just knock everything out there as opposed to doing a bit here and a bit there through the process.

- Collin Johnson started out the day with a bit of a thud before even hitting the practice field with a pretty crazy hand measurement for a guy as big as he is. Johnson has tiny, 8 3/4" hands. Those are tiny. He has the smallest hands of any WR in Mobile and some of these guys are like 5'10". It gives an explanation as to why he was bad at contested catches in 2020, only coming down with 5 of 13 opportunities per PFF. At nearly 6'6" he may have the weirdest hand-size to body size ratio ever. In looking through some databases dating back to 2005, the only comp anywhere near this I can find are Brandon Lafell and Terrance Williams and Johnson is bigger than both those guys.

- Johnson had a decent day in practice with some nice flashes, but again was not good going up to attack balls in a contested way. His feet and quicks for a man his size of the LOS was on full display, though, and where he continues to shine. Johnson is not fast when matched up against the best CBs in the nation and shows very little explosive burst compared to the rest. The team who takes Johnson will fall in love with his work ethic and attention to detail more than they will his size/athleticism combo from a raw standpoint.

- Every scout I have spoken to says their team has Devin Duvernay ranked higher than Johnson, a trend that some scouts say is wild because some of those teams had Johnson as a Top 50-type preseason while having late round grades on Duvernay. Duvernay looks good out here and can separate in all the ways you know about. He did have one horribly uncharacteristic drop on the first play of South team drills from QB Justin Herbert. Duvernay is running as the starting Z for the South and was the first target of the game and he totally blew it on a catch that Devin Duvernay never, ever drops, so that was disappointing, but all around a nice day otherwise. It's the kind of drop he may dream about for the rest of his life. That's how un-Duvernay-like it was. Interesting that after such a big year in the slot, that the Bengals aren't using him in this way, instead employing some of the "bigger" slot types like Juaun Jennings from Tennesse who is 6-3.

- As for the exact measurements from the Weigh In:

Devin Duvernay - Texas - 5'10 1/2", 202 pounds, 9" hands, 30 3/8" arm, 75 1/4" wingspan

Collin Johnson - Texas - 6'5 3/4", 221 pounds, 8 3/4" hands, 32 7/8" arm, 78 1/4" wingspan

Heading to Day 2 of South practice now, the first in full pads. I'll have an interview with Duvernay giving his thoughts on the week and the future of the Longhorns receiving corps in the War Room as well as any new updates from how these guys look in the first day with pads popping.
