This is one of the more compelling contract situations I can recall in sports. Ohtani earns $30MM this year and will become an unrestricted free agent after the season. He is 28. The guy is one of the best pitchers in baseball and one of the best hitters in baseball. I saw him pitch in Houston and he pitched 8 innings of one run ball, was pulled in a double switch, and moved to RF so that he could hit if his spot came up in the 9th inning. That was the year he won the AL MVP.
Here's my call. Ohtani to the Dodgers on a 7 year $400MM contract.
