We have been discussing on other threads Sark’s brilliant schemes and play designs as evidenced by the scripted plays at the start of games but the clunkiness, lack of rhythm and red zone futility that follows. In the context of the incredible scope of duties that head coaches now maintain with year round recruiting, portals, NIL, and fundraising on top of team building and game preparation, is it possible that Sark could use some help with play calling? I took a look at play calling head coaches today and in the recent past. It’s interesting.

Championship coaches, Harbaugh, Saban, Kirby Smart, Dabo, Orgeron, Urban Meyer (while at OSU), Chizik and soon to be Ryan Day did not/do not call plays. Powerhouses in this year’s playoffs where the head coaches do not call plays include Lanning and Freeman. Even Heupel shares play calling duties at TN. You know who famously calls plays for powerhouse schools? Franklin, Lincoln Riley and Sark. The only coach to call his own plays and win a championship in the last 15 years is Jimbo Fisher. Anyone see a pattern here?
