I meant to post this the other day because I know bitching about airlines is a favorite Orangebloods pastime.

Here are the best and worst US airlines based on the Wall Street Journal's annual report card.

I don't fly Alaska Airlines very much because I live in DC. But I do fly Delta all of the time and I rarely have any problems. I've been very impressed with Delta over the past couple of years.

I used to fly Southwest all of the time but the days of them being cheaper than everyone else are long gone and I don't like the cattle call seating process.

And I don't think anyone is surprised to see American at the bottom of the list.

Related to this...JetBlue just became the first airline to offer free wifi in every seat. The Fly-Fi service includes streaming video curated by Amazon and 36 channels of DIRECTV. Also free wifi at its terminals at DCA, JFK, LAX and many other airports.

Also...Flightstats.com released its list of the best and worst international carriers for ontime departures and landings.

The Best 10 International Airlines of 2016
  • 10. Qantas – 15.7 percent
  • 9. TAM Linhas Aéreas – 14.93 percent
  • 8. Delta Air Lines – 14.83 percent
  • 7. Singapore Airlines – 14.55 percent
  • 6. ANA – 14.46 percent
  • 5. Austrian – 14.26 percent
  • 4. Qatar Airways – 13.66 percent
  • 3. JAL – 12.2 percent
  • 2. Iberia – 11.82 percent
  • 1. KLM – 11.47 percent
On the 10 worst is Icelandair which I flew this summer as part of their Iceland layover deal. Their departure system at the Reykjavik airport is the absolute worst. They had five flights leaving for the US all at the same time and all from the same part of the airport so you had a sea of humanity all trying to fight each other to figure out where to go. Needless to say, none of the flights left on time. The planes themselves weren't very comfortable either.

The Worst 10 International Airlines of 2016
  • 10. Hainan Airlines – 30.3 percent
  • 9. Korean Air – 31.74 percent
  • 8. Air China – 32.73 percent
  • 7. Hong Kong Airlines – 33.42 percent
  • 6. China Eastern Airlines – 35.8 percent
  • 5. Asiana Airlines – 37.46 percent
  • 4. Philippine Airlines – 38.33 percent
  • 3. Air India – 38.71 percent
  • 2. Icelandair – 41.05 percent
  • 1. El Al – 56 percent
