So how will a Champion be named?

Anyone know how this will work? Playoffs still on? Assess based on rankings?
Well, most fans and pundits are predicting the same ol' same ol' results in the Big 12, not sure how the playoffs are determined

I don't believe the playoffs will change. The NCAA announced that all fall sports will not include a championship. But the NCAA does not oversee the football championships. What I heard last week, was that the only consideration will be whether or not the members from schools not participating in football this season, will be included in the committee that does the bracket. It will still be four teams. It will be later than had been originally scheduled. This all assumes that they don't call of the schedule before November. But right now, there will be a playoff, just like last season.

So, likely playoff teams will be:
UT
Clempson
Bama
UGa/Florida

Ou trying to back out of the season. First sign of adversity and Riley is looking weak. He has had everything setup on a silver platter up to this point. I bet kansas wants to quit as well. Someone should tell kansas bball is cancelled if football is cancelled. I think we know who the small group of "no's" were when the big 12 met.

Here’s the link. So much for OU going to the SEC if the Big 12 ever implodes. I’m with Nueces here - look for Riley to seek “other challenges” after this year.

Lol, debunked. Every bit of what he said about Ou in that writeup is his opinion. Didnt quote anyone, didnt say he had talked to a single person in the program. If you consider an unsubstantiated write up as evidence, then you'd consider twitter posts evidence. And several players have come out saying they are playing this year. Several prominent writers who have covered OU for decades have said the same & that OU is very much planning and excited to move forward. I'd welcome any other sort of evidence you've seen that you consider sufficient to convince you that this rumor has legs.

I am sure you aren't the type of person who believes everything unsubstantiated claim he reads. Remember when Acho said texas players were bribed for getting interceptions? I remember in another SI writeup a few years back, larry porter was accused to be involved in a scheme to pay players at osu & Dodds questioned him about it and is satisfied he wasnt involved. The writer doesnt have any ties or has ever actually covered OU or really even the big 12 in general. I mean the guy says he's been in media for 30 years but doesnt have much of a reputation, dude has less than 3,000 followers. Just for comparison, one of the guys who mostly only covers OU who refuted this claim has nearly 28k followers. Just good to take a look at context before buying something so silly at face value

That's a really long 2 paragraph response to convince yourself there is nothing to it.

Hey - I'm a Baylor guy - I was counting on the OU fanatics to make sure there would be a season. But the more I read about OU, the more I'm becoming concerned that its only a matter of time before it becomes another liberal breeding ground - your losing control of your university.

You don't have to get so defensive. It's ok if OU is a little gun shy this year. I mean, after what happened against LSU it's understandable to have some reservations about playing this year.

More importantly, is it too late for a couple of Big 10 or PAC 12 linebackers to transfer to Texas? We can make some exceptions right?

I'm really excited about the season. it's not every year your team gets to win it's 6th consecutive conference title.

At this point I think the season could be cancelled and the Big 12 big wigs would still mail that Big 12 trophy straight to Norman just out of repetitive habit.

Now Baylor fan, you and I both know the only chance Baylor has of sniffing the playoffs much less winning a NC is if covid were to kill off every other FBS team and even then Baylor would find themselves in another scandal and get themselves suspended before the CHampionship Game.

All good points. But we will show up. As for OU ...

Oh really? If that OK db doesn't tackle the Baylor kid on the 10 yard line then Baylor gets a td and a birth in the playoffs. They almost beat OK with a 3rd string qb. They went to 3 P6 level bowl games in the last decade and in Dave Arranda they hired a top notch coach. Baylor will fall back a little bit this year. They lost a lot of seniors, didn't hire DA till after recruiting and they didn't have a good recruiting class.

And no this is not a pro Baylor post.

It's okay, we always have UT football and it's current state (and the last decade) as OU fans to help us feel better.

Baylor has been showing up for years, during which they kicked and screamed to get a spot in the Big 12, but showing up compared to being a factor...there is a big difference.

We’re you the guy sitting in front of me last December pissing his pants at Jerry World when Zeno was throwing lasers at the overmatched OU secondary? Or was that you sitting in front of me when RG3 won the Heisman against BlowU? Hard to tell - both were toothless and fat. Now go cuddle with your B1G buddies and watch the football schools play football.

I took my daughter to that RG3 game in Waco thinking it was a sure win for OU because we had almost broke him in half the year before. Needless to say it was a long drive back to Comal County that night.

This don't seem right no more, its a cutout season, its feels like waiting on a High School JRV game to start..this season not gonna mean much, just watching the players trying to win what? Guess we will see if they are talented or not....

Self edit...have to remember it is a Baylor fan.

you are correct, it is, or will be, a wierd season if it gets off. But look at who will be playing, or better yet, look at who is missing.

PAC12 never makes the playoffs, so no loss there, and
B1G never meets expectations, so again, not much of a loss...

It's going to be a weird season. At least we have something. I don't watch the NFL for obvious reasons. It's CFB or no TV at all. I find other things to do.
Agree man I just can’t watch pro ball anymore. I may tune in to watch a specific player occasionally but I haven’t watched religiously since Jerry and Jimmy dismantled America’s team.

True. Not much to brag about the last 20-25 years. Dallas went from having great coaches to ridiculous hires over the last 20-25 years and I’m including a washed up over paid Parcells in that group too

Similar trajectory for a 49er fan such as myself. Except i havent missed a game since the 90s. I am an addict.
