So how will we feel about Herman when we are 6-7?

There were a lot of cases of guys being used at odd times, not in the right spots or made a play or two and then didn’t see the field again that game. It was very odd.

Next year will be an uphill battle. I figure we’re only likely to be favored in 3 games. Probably 4 coin flips and the rest were probably significant underdogs.... Honestly 6 wins would probably be a hell of a job
6??? I can't figure out if you are trolling or sandbagging to lower expectations. 6 is not a hell of a job unless you are at Kansas.

6-6 isn’t whst we want the program to be long term, but for 2018 it might be the high water mark of what the team will be capable of.... look at the schedule

@Maryland
Vs Tulsa
Vs USC
Vs TCU
@k state
OU
Vs Baylor
@Ok state
Vs WVU
Road game against tech
Vs ISU
@KU

Hard to find more than 7 wins maybe 8 under the best of scernios.

If you give them wins against Tulsa, Baylor and KU. It’s hard to find 4-5 more. Maybe Iowa State, K state and tech. That gets you to 6 and then your faced with the same issue we’ve had the last 4-5 years. Can you go beat a team that’s better than you. For the last 3-4 years the answer has been no... will next year be different.? We will see.

2. Yeah, referring to this class. Every time I read a recruiting update, its about UT recruiting a 4* db, wr, te or lb. It seems the big uglies are an after thought. JUCO and grad transfers should not be our plan with regard to lineman. If you put a 5* RB behind a 3* star line he's gonna look like crap. My apologies to Connor Williams.

3. Tim Beck is Watson all over again. The fact that the fans at tOSU and Nebraska thinks he stinks is all the proof I need to know he needs to go. Just a bad hire and his performance this year just re-enforces that for me.

4. UT has a slot receiver named Duvernay that runs a 10.2 100 meters. Was he used properly this year? How about 6'6" Johnson at wr? How many jump balls did he catch over the middle this year against 5'10" dbs? What about wr Foreman? What about Porter, who BTW couldn't break an arm tackle from my mom. Am I really supposed to believe Shane can't throw the ball to the middle of the field? I could go on and on. Take advantage of Duvernays speed, of Johnsons height, of Foreman experience, of Buecheles accuracy . . . and put Porter on the bench. This is what Im talking about. These things drove me nuts week after week and I just don't get it. We have weapons, use them!

These are some of the reasons why I have a bad feeling about Tommy.

2. What linemen are they not going after that they should be? The top 12 players in the state this cycle are all DB's and WR's. It's a weak year in state for both OL/DL. So, you have to go OOS/JUCO.

3 and 4. This is almost every fan-base 90% of the time. Unless it's a championship year every fan is smarter than the OC. Every single complaint you made we could do every year except 2005.

-don't throw it over the middle enough- check (btw this staff threw it over the middle infinitely more than the last few staffs)

-Don't throw it up to the tall guy enough- check

-Don't throw it deep to the fast guy enough- check

-coaches favor the veteran has-beens while all the good players/freshmen are on the bench- check

rinse and repeat

We will have 9 early enrollees for the spring semester and both qbs will enrolling, so everyone out there that was worried about the depth at qb earlier in the year, we will now have 4 scholarship qbs in the spring.

Until we come out of spring ball with a clear starter and then the 3 back ups transfer.......

I would think a clear starter coming out of spring should be priority #1. If the guy who finished 4th transfers, that is probably a good thing. If you are the worst of the bunch, why tie up a scholarship for a guy who can't play? If the 3rd or 4th guy plays next year, the season will be a bust anyway. If multiple guys transfer, then it isn't so good.
But a little turnover is good for pretty much any organization, dead wood has to be cut.

Didn't read the thread but here's my reply to the op:
I'll feel no different than how I felt after our 1st losing season with Strong. 1st year was dissapointing but expected. 2nd year should show improvement on field but not expecting any hardware. 3rd year competing for b12 title and decent bowl. 4th and beyond to be in the mix for a playoff spot.

If we're sub .500 in year 3 without catastrophic injuries to blame, that's when I start calling it another failed experiment.

I can' t see either one of the freshman transferring. At least not for being last in the depth chart. Hopefully both can redshirt.

We need to get out of the cycle of judging players based off their freshman campaigns. What you say is true for healthy organizations, but we aren't a healthy program. We need 1st and second year players to stay and maybe be serviceable/good in years 3 or 4 rather than simply labeling them as crap and praying the next guy is VY.
