So who's Jerry going to hire this time around?

It's looking like it could be McCarthy. I don't think he'd be a bad hire. I just hope that the Cowboys can get back to making deep playoff runs ASAP. I'd give my right one for another Super Bowl win.

Done deal. Will be interesting to see who DC is and if he keeps Kellen Moore...I like the hire.
Hopefully he doesn’t keep Moore. He wasn’t terrible in his first attempt at being an OC, but far too many long stretches without scoring. McCarthy should be able to bring some good coaches in.

But why isn't Bob Stoops even mentioned as a long shot? He's not even given odds in any of the lists I've seen. Is he sick?
Bob Stoops skipped the NFL and went straight to the gimmicky XFL. I can only hope he has a player with the phrase ‘he hate me’ on his jersey

Thinking back to the Jimmy Johnson era. You know Jerry did make a key trade, draft pick, and a few fa signings. Not many but a few. He wanted Jimmy to give him some credit but Jimmy wouldn't do it. I mean Jerry did make a trade for Thomas Everett and he let the whole world know about it. But Jimmy Johnson was the most conceited, insufferable, coach I've ever seen. He didn't just gloat when he won he rubbed it in the other teams and players and coaches face in it. Somebody said that he couldn't understand how those 2 took a perfect situation and screwed it up.

And you know neither man had the same success. It's been posted on here about the Cowboys struggles over the last 25 years. But Jimmy struggled in Miami. He was given complete control and Wayne Huizenga was going to let him have all the credit which Jimmy wanted. But he couldn't match it. In fact a couple of coaches got to settle a score with him. And now Jerry is in the HoF and.Jimmy does commercials for Extends. Hmmm maybe
that's why Jimmy acted the way he did. A classic case of overcompensating.

Anyway a plague on both their houses.

Mike McCarthy it is.
Lots of success at GB before imploading, kinda like Mack B. Surely he'll be an upgrade especially with all the young stars Dallas has already in place.

I was thinking Jerry was going to throw a bucket of gold at Josh McDaniels (Pats OC). Yes, we all know he bombed in Denver but I think much has changed since 2009. I bet he makes a move when Brady hangs up the fur coat & high heel cleats.

Was reading an article on the Athletic about his tone in Green Bay. Seems like ownership and the GM could have helped him out a lot more than they did. The front office in Dallas will give him talent to work with, he just needs to do something with it. I guess it all starts with who he hires as his coordinators

New coach same as old coach. Actually McCarthy is a split of Chan Gaily and Dave Campo. Whoooppiee

I find this devotion astounding. Your right nut? It's metaphorical, but even to mention it!

I guess the one good thing about the Cowboys--even with a numbskull Razorback like Jerry Jones in charge--is that they'll never, ever leave Dallas. So if you're from DFW or thereabouts you can rely on that. And Jerry's family will eventually sell. There's that.

As for other Texans, particularly those who love CFB as I do, it makes little sense (to me) that you root for the Cowboys. There's no intrinsic connection to you, as there is with a school that you hopefully graduated from. I guess there's no logic to which pro sports teams you root for. Just pick one.

As a kiddo, I rooted for the Vikings since I loved purple.

Aaron didn't like Mike. I don't think.
Aaron always thinks he the smartest guy in the room. Mike McCarthy was the guy who helped Rodgers fix his 2 biggest flaws coming out of college, his footwork and throwing motion. This is a good hire for Dak. The defensive coaches he hires is what concerns me the most.

In Jimmy’s defense he had to endure the whole Dan Marino, prima Donna at the end of his career thing. Jimmy Johnson had big shoes to fill replacing 2 all time legends, Landry and Shula. Btw, Thomas Everett was a good pickup imo. Good safety that iirc came over from Pittsburg?

I'm a life long Cowboys fan, and always will be. No, Jerry's family will most likely never sell the team. Stephen Jones will take over when Jerry passes on.

They bought into it. Wait long enough, and someone after Stephen will sell it.

Keep eating your greens, and maybe you'll live to see it.

Hate all you want, but the vast majority of Texans love the Dallas Cowboys. Most valuable and most popular team in America.

Is the most popular tag yours or was that from a study somewhere? Serious question.
Also, how would that be gauged? Jersey sales, polls, attendance?
If I remember correctly, the same thing was said about UT due to number of t-shirt sales hence the weak aggy smack talk about walmart t-shirt fans

I really like the McCarthy hire. Not just blowin. I feel like we have an adult as a HC now. I can't imagine, however, if I were a NY Giants fan right now. Joe Judge? I had never even heard of this guy.

That was an interesting hire and then interviewing Garett for the OC position.

Those are facts the Cowboys are the world’s most valuable sports franchise for the fourth-straight year at $5 billion.

That may be all well and good but they still haven't won a SB in 25 years. Also Jerry lost his.power struggle against Goodell on Ezekiel Elliot.

Dallas is the epitome of sports franchises there’s no doubt. That’s why when they fail which has been a lot lately people love it. Fans of other teams don’t want to hear about the past because well it’s the past (25 years ago). I’ve never knocked their winning history I just knock the fans that think it happened last week. Will they get there again? Probably they have the talent just not the coaching. Will I cheer them on? Hell nah! The fans (Cowboy) that live in Houston are obnoxious but fun to get riled up. And yes a huge portion of fans in Texas are their fans which is fine no problem here.

Coaching wise Mcarthy was a good hire not sure what JJ will allow him to do but hiring a proven coach is better than not.

And Texans fans aren't obnoxious and don't have an inferiority complex and obssesive when it comes to Dallas? Sheesh.

If you’re running into Texan fans in Dallas that are messing with you than ok. But you being in Houston with Texan fans cheering on their home team isn’t being obnoxious it’s being a fan of your home town team. My coworker (Baltimore fan) had the audacity to act like we have no right to root on our home team. We annoy him. You know what I told him? You’re in MFing Houston get used to it!

What I find funny is most of that statement I made was applauding and agreeing with the cowboy organization success. What cowboy fan saw was a small portion that said I wouldn’t cheer your team on because you cowboy fans in Houston are obnoxious. LOL

Good for the Cowboys (and you, MM) if they win, but I think Jerry is a detriment, and I don't know enough about Stephen.

The most obnoxious part is what Drew said: when Cowboys fans expect all Texans to root for them. No thanks. But I get that it seems insecure to MM. Think I'm insecure all you like. No harm, no foul.

Cheers.
