Brothers Jordan Moore and Joshua Moore took unofficial visits to Texas on Thursday. I connected with Jordan this morning to get some comments, and he had a couple interesting things to say.
Overall, it was a great visit for Jordan, a 2018 athlete out of Yoakum who Texas has offered as a DB. The Longhorns continue to be the leaders for his commitment.
Moore said the visit was cool because he and his brother got to spend a lot of time with the UT coaches and players. They also got to watch the Texas players go through their off-season testing that helps the coaches gauge how much each guy has progressed this summer.
"They were doing conditioning and testing. I like how when one person was tired and feeling like giving up, other players built them up," Moore said.
I asked Moore which guys caught his eye in the workouts.
"Kris Boyd, Shane Buechele, Collin Johnson, Devin Duvernay. They were just building up the the young freshmen. They seem like they have bought into the program, bought in early, know they have to be leaders of the team," Moore said. "They helping everyone up that felt like quitting. Hanging out with Kris, he puts off a very strong vibe."
Moore plans to return to Austin next month for a Texas pre-season practice. His plan right now is to release a top 10 on August 25 and commit on June 18 of next year, but he said if one school is way out in front he could do it as early as this September.
He didn't say this, but if he does commit early, I can't see it being anywhere but Texas.
Of note, Joshua Moore is visiting Oklahoma today for the Sooners' BBQ recruiting event. Jordan has not been offered by OU so he isn't attending.
I'll post more comments from Jordan on his UT visit over the weekend.
