I like to "annoy" my kids and play music I grew up with to educate them on stuff beyond Harry Styles or whatever today's flavor of the month is.
I take pride in the fact that my daughter at age 7 had to do book reports on whatever she chose, and she picked books on Elton John and the Rolling Stones. They like to tell me how good Khalid is when it comes on the radio and while I do like his stuff, I always tell them we'll see if they remember that song 40 years from now and if it holds up over time.
My kids are pretty well versed on a broad spectrum of "classic" artists ... Billy Joel, Led Zeppelin, Prince, Elton John, George Strait, Michael Jackson, Jim Croce, LL Cool J, The Beatles, John Denver, Marvin Gaye, Nirvana, etc.
We'll be on a road trip next week and I told them I get to control the music, so I want to create a playlist. What are some artists/songs that I need to put in front of them.
