Any Longhorn football fan hoping Texas A&M freshman quarterback Kyler Murray might end up at Texas probably should let it go.
According to multiple sources close to the situation, Texas is not interested in acquiring Murray, and the quarterback will have to find another program to play for outside of Austin.
From what I have been told, Texas is focused on incoming freshman Shane Buechele, who is expected to enroll in January, and Sam Ehlinger, a quarterback who will be in the 2017 class. Murray has to sit out in 2016, and the Longhorns are concerned about losing Buechele and Ehlinger’s commitments if they pursue Murray.
Murray recently decided to transfer from Texas A&M, and Texas was viewed as one of his possible landing spots. Texas finished second to Texas A&M earlier this year.
I am not sure which program Murray will eventually attend, or if he will chose to play baseball, but Texas A&M clearly has problems. Kenny Hill transferred earlier this year, quarterback Kyle Allen decided to transfer last week, and now the program is losing Murray. The only positive aspect for Texas A&M is not losing Murray to an in-state program.
