No one owes anybody an apology. Don't come on a message board unless you wear big boy pants, and don't expect to be treated nicely when you make Nostradamus-esque predictions from a new account. No one is bowing down to anyone unless they can get specific.

Well jdrake2016 everyone else can speak for themselves. I for one appreciate the info. Being right provides enough credibility for me. It's not as if when you have inside info you can announce your name and source.

Well the guy was pretty spot on apparently. He was a source I used and one on shaggytexas.

honestly..who the F* cares anymore..i am out of town till Monday...turning off the intranetz for a couple days... not sure what is true anymore but this just came up. I think we are going to end up with the Cal guy or the Auburn guy
Ryan Bridges @RyanBridgesCFB

The sites most adamant that Gilbert was NOT offered the job aren't affiliated with Texas, those claiming he WAS offered are.

In what regards? As far as I know he's made one post with unsupported claims regarding why C^&bie didnt sign on, none of which has been subsequently established as true or false, and now posts an 'I'm an insider, I am the source" claim with no evidence. I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you, and I can give you a real good price because I like you.

Hook 'em

simple.....well it comes down to negotiations and support for Charlie.... he negotiates like he calls games...always a cluster F* at the end

Horns247 is also reporting that the contract negotiations went south:

Gilbert left Austin under the impression he had a three-year deal from Texas in the range 650,000 to 750,000 per year for three years, according to sources close to the situation. However, Strong had only offered Gilbert a two-year contract and the miscommunication changed negotiations completely.

So if the Longhorns missed on Gilbert because of a miscommunication about contract details, there's nothing to call that other than ridiculously incompetent and stupid.

When Cumbie turned down the position, it was understandable -- he has a good thing

You will have to sweeten the contract for the next OC in terms of number of years because no one believes your Head Coach is going to be there past one year if the ship isn't righted in a big way. Considering your non-conference schedule along with the Big Twelve and you can see where anyone contemplating making the move would need the extra year or two of compensation to take it and hedge against his Head Coach being fired after year one and then being out of a job too.

Even with that it's kind of ridiculous for Sterlin to turn that down. He's co-OC at Tulsa, he doesn't have a great job like Cumbie. Even if he's gone in a year, he can get a job at Tulsa level schools fairly easily.

There is more to the story. Not sure we know what happened. Bell I did not see the post that was deleted. I assume it was from this JDrake. Guy seems a tad egocentric. Must lurk a lot? not that that's bad. But a real insider that is too cheap to pay the $9.95?

Not sure what to think of this situation. Obviously it was a critical situation-- Fenves sending out that defensive tweet. Everybody hopping on the plane to Tulsa even with a recruiting weekend going on. The strange idea that Charlie would offer something that was not pre-approved or the BOR reneged on after the fact. Art Briles weird comments.

I hope they brought Gilbert back on the plane. Don't let him stay in Tulsa. It's not like I felt when we got Chizik or Muschamp from Auburn.
