I'll still wait for the press conference, but I found it really confusing how many people were saying we couldn't get it because it was taking more than one day and because someone (who only had 2 posts ever) started a thread saying he turned down the job but didn't give any evidence.

Who was reporting it? The guy who started the thread with his second post ever? Seriously, I kept asking people to back it up. I just didn't know where the info was coming from.... and as far as I could tell, no one else did either.

Nah, but that wasn't what I said that you said... or what you said. And as I said elsewhere, I think the main advantage that Cumbie would have had relative to Gilbert is that it would have been a splashier name. We've also since discovered that it seems rather likely that Cumbie might be getting a promotion to play caller at TCU anyway, with Meacham being a strong possibility for a few HC positions including Tulane.
Like I said, it's good news tonight, so I'm happy to move on. And you are far from the only one who jumped on the "Gilbert is out" bandwagon. There were UT posters who joined in that chorus too. I just still want to know... where'd everyone get that? I searched around all the usual places for rumors or reports that said it, and the only thing I could find was the original poster who said it was the case. And as I pointed out, that was his second post ever. Most of us have been on here long enough to have a healthy level of skepticism towards new posters bearing big news...
Yea but besides looking at it like that, do you not agree that it's better for a team who needs to be saved -get a proven offensive coordinator, rather than an up and coming co-coordinatior with no play calling experience

Scholz you got turned down by your first choice at OC plain and simple. Texas shouldn't get turned down by anyone. Coordinators are very leery of the axe that could fall next year if major improvements aren't made. That is a mess created by your current head coach. You are splitting hairs and ignoring the elephant in the room, being that Texas just ain't that attractive under the current regime.
