I'm looking at the schedules for the NFC East teams, and it seems strange to me that there are so few late-season divisional games. Off the top of my head, I think I recall stacking a high percentage of those games late in the season, but here's what we have this year:
  • Dallas: Two division games in the second half of the season
  • New York: Two division games in the second half of the season (only one after December 1)
  • Philadelphia: Two division games in the second half of the season (the last two)
  • Washington: Four division games in the second half of the season
Washington's schedule is what I would expect to see. As a result of the scheduling, Dallas, New York and Philadelphia have to come out of the gate hot if they want to win the East. The schedule is frontloaded with key division games, so the division might be largely decided by the end of October.
