Did you get brisket? Their sausage is awful, but their brisket is top notch. As with any new restaurant opening, sometimes it takes them a little time to perfect things.

I had a sampler plate.... little of everything. Was it tender? For sure. Smell good? You bet.... but their pit is obviously new and not properly seasoned yet. They just aren't seasoing the meat enough to compensate for lack of seasoning from the pit.
