Take Two: Zach Evans

Wow, the list of top rated RBs is really not great company to be in. Peterson was by far the best of that group and Brown #2? What about Ced? Or was that before the rivals era?

I'm not much of a recruiting buff, but I do see a list in that linked article that shows a couple of nice backs for Texas in Brown and Gray that were productive contributors but not world -beaters, so you never know how a kid will pan out. That said, Adrian Peterson going to OU cost us the RRR game in '04, but we went on to do pretty well without him in '04 and '05. No ONE recruit is make or break, but I get that he could be a generational talent...would much rather have Evans than NOT have him! Especially because RB is such a position of need now.

CB was about two years ahead of Peterson. He was at UT from 2001-2004 and that was not before the Rivals era.

Hell, Charles was a better prospect than every one of those 5 starts not named Peterson.
Yeah, I never understood why Jamaal wasn't rated higher. His HS videos were sick, as were his stats. For several seasons, he was a one-man offense, getting little support from the passing game (or his OL). He also proved to be much more durable than one would expect, considering the workload he shouldered in HS.

Absolutely. Not to mention Donte Foreman, a 2 star afterthought. Of course, those are all Texas top rated RBs so perhaps our in-state talent is not what we think it is coming out of HS. Since 2000 Texas has had Ced, Jamal, Donte, Malcolm, Jonathan. Sosa and the others that went elsewhere preformed at not even close to the level those that chose Texas did. Gray gets a pass due to injury. He was never the same after the Achilles. Brown played on a shit team with a shit oline. Donte did too but managed to persevere.

M. Farrell and his typical SEC, SEC, SEC comment . I understand why he is making the comment but I guess I'm just annoyed and tired of the hype that conference gets all around. Haha put me on the triggered list. ;) Did Mike not get the memo. F#%k atm ~ C. Robinson.

“It’s most important for Texas to get him because this is the type of kid it needs to keep in-state. If the Longhorns want to take the next step in the Big 12, they can’t let any other team steal this kid away. Texas A&M is intriguing because of the SEC, Oklahoma got Peterson back in the day and is a power, but it’s most important for Texas.”

For sure. Won the 100M at the Big XII Track and Field as a freshman. He was a very good RB in the NFL too. His stats at UT would likely have been even better had he not split time in the backfield for part of his UT career with Raymonce Taylor and Selvin Young.
