Did some checking this morning on TE Gunnar Helm, who was in Austin on Monday to see the city/campus (still can't meet with the coaches directly).
I've thought for a while Texas had a very strong shot here, ever since UT offered and Helm told me the Longhorns immediately moved into his top five and bumped another program out, and he even told me he'd consider committing to Texas sight unseen if things felt right.
Now that he's had the chance to see Austin and the campus, I'm liking UT's chances even more. Sources I spoke to today said if he decides soon (and I think he will), it looks like Texas is in a very good spot. Wisconsin and Iowa have also been in play. There are some moving parts in this one that could throw things off track, but if things fall the way I think they will I would expect him to pick Texas in the near future. I put my FutureCast pick in for Texas just now.
