Wife got a pretty good job offer there and I work remote so we're contemplating the move.
I did the CAP program so I lived my freshman year in SA and enjoyed it but that was spent mainly on/near campus.
We're early 30s and planning to buy our first home in the next year or 2 but would obv push that up a little if we end up relocating.
As we see it:
Pros - We're from Austin and will have our first baby in a few months so we're still close to family and houses look to be much cheaper/bang for your buck than Austin in our price range (400Kish), I have a few friends/family in San Antonio, I've lived there before and had a good experienced although it was pretty limited.
Cons - The main thing that has me pause is that SA is routinely listed as one of the highest crime rates in Texas and although close it is obviously not Austin anymore.
So are there areas in our range that aren't crappy? Decent schools for our soon to be newborn? Whats the BBQ/food situation? Traffic? Future outlook of the city?
