Havnt really seen anything about it but a Really scary moment in the tennessee state vandy game, kid collapsed on the sideline during the game and had to have brain surgery.

puts the targeting rules in perspective i think. I dont think there is a video out of the hit that caused it or not.

The mother of Christion Abercrombie says the Tennessee State linebacker remains in critical condition following his emergency surgery for a head injury after he collapsed on the sideline late in the first half against Vanderbilt on Saturday.

Abercrombie's mother, Staci, said in a statement from the university that "Christion is resting. He's fighting. We're trusting God and please continue to pray."

A TSU update Sunday said Abercrombie's condition was still listed as critical at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and that he was "surrounded by his family, teammates, the TSU family and members of the Vanderbilt community."

Tigers coach Rod Reed told The Tennessean on Saturday that he was not sure exactly how or when the Atlanta native was hurt before coming to the sideline late in the second quarter of a 31-27 loss to Vanderbilt.

"He came to the sideline and just kind of collapsed there," Reed said.

Abercrombie was given oxygen on the sideline, then taken away on a stretcher.

The linebacker redshirted at Illinois in 2016 and played 11 games in 2017 before transferring to Tennessee State. He came into Saturday's game as the Tigers' second-leading tackler and was credited with five tackles and a quarterback hurry before suffering the injury.

After the game ended, players from both teams joined Reed and Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason for a prayer for Abercrombie, his family and the Tigers.

"Football's what we do, not who we are," Mason said. "I know what it is to be a coach. I know what it is to have a player who's injured. At the end of the day, when serious injuries happen, football becomes secondary."

Football is on the outs with all the head injuries. It's not getting better. Better get used to baseball and soccer soon.

You know I am not a dedicated person who goes to church every Sunday, but I do believe, In my 70 something yrs and after surviving a war, I found out that one thing is, When its your time for something to happen to you, its your time, there's no stopping it, regardless of what equipment ya have or what car ya drive, everybody has their time..its not negotiable, just the way life is, no prolonging, if ya got Cancer , you got it, doesn't really matter how ya got it, if ya have a Car wreak, well, it happens whether your fault or not...In the War, I have seen guys with like a hue about them like a body shield and even walk thru a firefight and never get a scratch, I thing Fresh may have seen that, I don't know about him, he'll probably think I am a crazy Vietnam vet when half the platoon was wounded, its bugged me all these yrs about that and the only thing I can come up with, that there is a chosen time for you, sounds crazy, I know, but, , this young man maybe had something else going on with his body or not...just one of the strange mysteries of life I guess, I have seen other people with that hue about them, after being a fireman in my younger yrs and driving EMS, its freaks ya out sometimes..but, one thing Death has no Master! When ya get older ya look back and wonder, How in the F**k did I survive all my life's stuff that happened

But the weirdest thing was Freddie Steinmark, , you know that kid was the bravest guy I have ever seen in my 70 something yrs, I still think about him time to time and wonder why!

Hope the young man gets better its a tragedy anyway ya look at it!
