Last year I felt we lost because of players not executing a good game plan (fumbles, dropped passes, incorrect throw type from Quin to AD). But this year, it was the opposite for me. Players made errors, yes, but that happens every game in college. This year the coaches, specifically Sark and PK, let the players down. You change two play calls, TWO, and it’s likely a totally different game. I know the holding on Simmons that wasn’t called was huge, but not why we lost. PK dialing up a coverage blitz with 27 seconds left in the half was mind boggling and reminded me of Orlando blitzing 7 against LSU in 2019 on 3rd and 17. Call anything else and we go to half tied. Sark’s call to pitch it on 2nd and 1 as opposed to throwing or running at the defense again was terrible. Change those two play calls and you likely change the game. I hate that we’re losing so many outstanding players, but we do return a lot as well, great recruiting class, and if Arch is what we think he will be. We will be back here next year. I hate moral victories, HATE them, but we will finish 3rd two years in a row. As much as this freaking stings right now, after it wears off, we will look at this season favorably.
