Texas redshirt freshman guard Isaiah Hookfin will miss the next two to three weeks after sustaining a shoulder injury in practice this week, according to my sources.

I am still trying to confirm the details of Hookfin's injury.

For now, Hookfin's setback leaves Texas very thin on the right side of the line. Denzel Okafor is receiving first-team reps at right guard, while Christian Jones is the starting right tackle. Hookfin's injury likely elevates redshirt freshman Tyler Johnson into the backup right guard role.

The good news for Longhorn fans is Hookfin might be healthy enough to contribute in the season opener against UTEP on September 12. If Texas decides to take a cautious approach with Hookfin, the staff could hold him out of that game and preserve him for Texas Tech on September 26.

I will keep you updated.
