Texas offensive coordinator Tim Beck addressed the media after practice on Wednesday, and here are the highlights of his media availability.

--- Beck on Oklahoma’s improved defense: “I think the whole defense besides the front seven, they're very improved, fast, much faster plan harder. I think that the coaches have done a good job of implementing a system. Here's what we're doing. Here's our strengths. Here's our weaknesses of the defense of our system. The players understand that, know it, which allows them to probably play a little faster than last year.”

--- When asked about Oklahoma’s improved secondary, Beck said, “Pretty much like we talk all the time, we come in here, and it's not just worry. I really worry about us. It really doesn’t matter who we're playing. We got to get off press. We got to get open. We got to catch the ball. We got to make the throw. We got to play on time. If we're doing those things, we got chance to win.”

--- Beck said he does not make it a goal to use two running backs. Instead, they prefer to use the running back with a hot hand.

--- Beck described tight end Jared Wiley as a big target who runs really well and as a knack for the game. He said as Beck continues to grow and develop, his tight end has an opportunity to receive more playing time.

--- In addition, Beck described receiver Marcus Washington as a player with good ball skills and running ability. He said everything is a new experience for Washington, but his receiver has handled the transition very well.

--- Beck said Devin Duvernay’s growth on and off the field are some of the reasons his receiver was named a captain this week. In addition, Duvernay has grown as a vocal leader, according to Beck. Beck said, “I'm really proud of him and love him. I think his development and what he stands for our program, and a lot of young men out there, is really truly special.”

--- Beck said he is proud of being able to have over 200 yards rushing during the past two games. He said as players continue to get healthier and fresher, the big plays will come.

--- Beck said prior to Collin Johnson’s injury, opposing teams had to pick and choose how they would defend the Longhorn receiver. He said if teams doubled Johnson with a boundary safety, there was not as much help and coverage on Devin Duvernay and Brennan Eagles. In addition, if the defenses wanted to help cover Duvernay and Eagles, the box would lighten up.
