I quit mlb about 10 years ago. When these guys are making less than I do, let me know, I might get interested again.
They do and I have gone to my last Rangers game and hope the city follows suit..!! I am against racism but am equally appalled by systemic stupidity and false morality..!! macron of France got it right..

I don't know if name changes do any good I haven't decided on that but the Texas Rangers do have a racist past there's no denying that. They never had any people of color in the TR until they were pressured into the first black man in the Rangers I think it was the 90's.
Do Mexicans count as people of color? Because Ramiro Martinez became a Ranger in 1973. Lee Roy Green became the 1st Black Ranger in 1988. He hated to be referred to as the 1st Black Texas Ranger and the inference that his position was politically motivated. He felt it was demeaning, which it is.
What is demeaning is the false way in which this conversation continues to be framed and a lot of good guys left here because of it.. We are perfectly willing to have a conversation but it is very hard to have one when much of the other side is detached from reality and falsely framing the discussion.. The cancel culture needs to be canceled..
Because their leadership are a bunch of self motivated con artist who in no way are in truth fighting for Black lives..!! The ANTIFA platform mirrors that of the Weather Under Ground (and BLM champions much of this too) and wants the following.. Take God out of society... Race Baiting.. identify/ create a mentality of victimhood... Organize the victims... and lie your ass off.. Using everyone and anyone dumb enough to buy the lie..
People don't matter to them only their lie.. Start dealing with the societal drivers behind these issues and stop pretending and opportunities exist.. Stay aligned to the lie.. Keep throwing it at people of all colors who know its a lie and just like the Ohio Militia people are going to tell you enough is enough and offer two simple options.. at that point the choice will be yours.. But be assured people of all colors are getting fed up..

Yes Mexicans count as people of color I read the excerpt and their history of brutality stems towards Mexicans. If you read the excerpt you will read that in 1918 they killed 15 innocent Mexican boys under 15 and elderly men. In the 50's they we're used by TX governor Alan Shivers, an ardent segregationist btw, and blocked admission to black students trying to enter school in Mansfield and Texarkana and they were successful. When migrant workers were demonstrating for better rights in the 60's the TR's broke that up. I said they didn't have black Rangers till the 90's well it was 1988 not off by much. And they were under pressure by the NAACP. Yes they have black, Hispanic, and female Rangers now.

How do you make such ignorant statements not once, but over and over again? Perhaps you need to read a little bit about the topics you hate on so much before just typing that this or that is racist. The Texas Rangers have had a glorious past and there have been many rangers from different backgrounds. As a member of the Texas Rangers Foundation, I can tell you that racists are not tolerated. I am member of the Texas Rangers Foundation because I donate money to them to pay for the Rangers' children college fund. Best of the best is the Texas Rangers. By the way, California is dead broke and will only be a bigger cesspool with Socialist running it.
There isn't a single organization that wields a weapon that doesn't have a moment in it's history where mistakes were made. The United States Army fought against fascism and the mass execution of Jews in WWII and helped to save the world from tyranny.
That same Army rode down and slaughtered Native Americans by the thousands.
So which army to we judge? Which army do we cast aspersions upon?
I can say "the US Army has a history of racist genocide" and that would be viewed as a true statement.
I can also say "the US Army has a history of stopping racist genocide" and that's also true.
So perhaps instead of judging a large swath of people for something that happened loooooong ago---- by people who are long dead, mind you-- I should instead look at what the large group of people have done more recently.

You make some valid points I'll give you that. To many times history has romanticized people to the point that they can't be criticized. That being said I openly acknowledge that the TR have done some great things but they're not above being criticized and I that's am I'm saying here.
Was the country of Mexico fighting the Texas Rangers? Yes, they were. The Rangers were not slaughtering innocents.... They were fighting the Mexican Army as well as Mexican Revolutionaries, like Pancho Villa. All is fair in love and war.
You realize that we aren't saying that those criticisms are invalid. We are contesting the fact that people isolating verifying specific instances and applying them to the entire history of something. Let me ask you a question:
1. Have you ever sang the Eyes of Texas?
2. When you sang it did you do it out of admiration for our athletes and as a show of unity with Longhorns everywhere?
3. Did you have visions of white supremacy and the look down on our black athletes?
I know my answers to that question and that's why I know that in 2020, The Eyes of Texas isn't racist.
What value does criticism have? It doesn't build. It doesn't make anything better. Keep in mind, problem identification is not the same as criticism. If you were to point out problems that need correcting and bring it to light, that is one thing. Criticism and condemning a group for what was done long ago has no construction at all, it's divisive and creates false narratives. Especially if these issues have already been addressed and fixed.

As I said--- nothing that's been around for any elongated period of time is above reproach. The church-- any church-- the Catholic church-- Martin Luther and the protestants--- any religion for that matter-- has blood on their hands during some point in history. And yes, even the Hindus and the Buddhists.
What happened in the past, well-- it happened in the past. Neither of us owned a slave. Neither of us killed Jews. You might be old enough (I don't know) to have experienced segregated water fountains-- like my parents did, back in the 50s.

I can only tell you that there are sheety people in this world. And the vast majority of them do not live in this country. The good news is that those sheety people are the minority. And if we continue to highlight and give spotlight to the sheetiest of us, those people will continue to propagate. If we stop giving them a platform, they will eventually, slowly over time, vanish. Unfortunately, there are too many hucksters that profit from this ongoing conflict.
