From the Baylor side - this contest reminds me of Griner's senior year. BU beat the Aggies twice in regular season, then in the Big 12 tournament. The NCAA tournament committee placed them in the same bracket, and they met again in the Elite 8. The Ags scored a big upset. Which proves - its tough to beat a good team 3 straight, and even the mighty Griner couldn't beat the Lady Ags 4 times in a row. Should be a great game tonight.

Keep an eye on Alexis Jones. Nina Davis is BU's leading scorer (and returning Big 12 player of the year), but as the year has passed, Jones has become the go to girl. She originally went to Duke as a McDonald's All American and had 2 knee blowouts. She transferred to BU in order to get closer to home, and is just now getting to full strength.

I can't do this by myself. Come on Lady Horn fans - I know you're out there!

We really need some help inside before we can hope to hang with Baylor on anything other than a lucky night. Don't expect us to win tonight, but it would be nice to see the margin of defeat start trending back significantly in the other direction.

Alexis Jones took over at the end of the 2nd quarter. She's tough. Texas guards are so quick, but undersized. Boyette needs help inside. She's got 2 fouls at half. If she gets another quick one in the 3rd quarter, it's going to be tough for the Lady Horns.

Baylor looked like a national title contender. UConn better watch out. The Lady Horns are a year away, with another top recruiting class coming in. Bring on the tournament!

Baylor just has so much more size than Texas right now.

Still extremely happy with what Aston is doing. The program continues to trend strongly upward, and more talent is on the way. A 28-4 record -- with three of those four losses coming to a legit Final Four squad -- reflects a hell of a year. We've got a great chance to hit 30 wins for only the second time in the last 28 seasons (though it will probably end there, since I suspect we'll draw UConn in the Sweet 16 again).

After being largely irrelevant since the 1980s, it looks like Texas women's basketball is poised to enter a second golden age. (Disgraceful that we ever let the program fall so far to begin with, with Jody mostly sucking for her final 17 seasons here, but that's another story.)

As good as we have been this year, we just havent been able to hang with Baylor. After three games, should Texas play Baylor again, Aston has to do something different. Unless we hit 20 threes, I just dont see this team being able to beat Baylor. Next year, maybe its different. I just hope we can make a deep run. Elite 8 would be fantastic.

I'm not sure what can really be done strategically. It's just a terrible matchup. Like you suggested, the real key would be a positive outlier of a game for Texas and a negative outlier of a game for BU.
