Texas vs moonshine thread

We lost another game and we won the turn over battle. I have never seen anything like this.

Hard faught game. For the first time in awhile Shane looked like a freshman. Although the pick wasn't really his fault he made sevreal illadvused throws

We ain't beating tcu bud.

That's exactly what I was just thinking. Sure TCU's season has pretty much imploded but they have a chance to continue a streak against the Longhorns. That is pretty motivational and as you have pointed out before Clob, I don't think Charlie is a details guy. It's the little things that are killing us.

i looked back at some of the games because I was thinking the same thing. And I think it's happening because although we are getting turnovers a lot of them have come deep in our end, so it's basically a punt. We aren't getting any defensive scores or quick turnovers in plus territory

Sorry about Seth Russell. For those who didn't see, he had a horrific leg break in the OU game today a few minutes ago.
Boy that WAS bad. He's a great guy in a sorry situation. Broken neck last year, broken leg this year. Snake bit. Good game by the Sooners. And BTW - why all the drumbeat for a Mayfield invitation to NYC? That Dede Westbrook is the guy that should go - he is unstoppable. Reminds me of Manziel to Evans - Mayfield is good, but Westbrook makes him look great.

Still dont think its a sure thing that CS is out after this season. Heck im 50/50 on its half the time myself. We have seen progress this year. But then again is it enough. But in asking that you have to ask, does CS finally have his players in the system. If the answer is yes then you have to say does he get one last year to prove it, or do we potentially reward someone else for his recruiting success - and if so can you even get your #1/#2 target to take the job. Yes its FREAKIN' TEXAS, but that not always enough in CFB anymore.

Its not so cut an dry for me. Thankfully im not paid to make those decisions.

I'm walking to my fridge-- yanking out that lollipop ribeye I've been marinating and firing up the grill. Maybe a fat steak and 9 belgian beers will ease my soul.

Our defense is more competitive over the past few weeks. Our offense was a let down in this game. We need to play a complete game.
536 total yards. Won the turnover battle. Picked up more 1st Downs. Won the Time of Possession. Had less penalty yards.

We lost the game on the Special Teams with the blocked FG. That changes the playcalling near the goal line when SB took that sack fumble. And the need to throw into the endzone on the final play.

The problem with firing Strong is I don't really see anyone out there that we could get that for sure puts us in a better position.

Tom Herrman in my mind hasn't done enough. If you want to hire Herrman I think you wait a year.

Chris Peterson is about to get paid big time at UW according to reports.
John Harbaugh. I do think this is possible but the ravens may make the playoffs can you wait till late Jan? I don't know.

I think if they do make a move Gus Malzahn is making a ton of sense. I just don't see a lot out there that Texas should be falling all over themselves to hire.

Thats the same dilemma i see. No one wants UT to bring in a "up and coming coach" - but its getting harder and harder to lure those big names away.

Not sure how i feel but kinda curious if anyone else thought about the idea of Les Miles while keeping Sterling Gilbert as the OC.

If Les Miles was open to keeping Gilbert and running that type of offense I think it's something you consider and maybe groom Gilbert to be the HC one day becsuse les would be a short term move at 63 years old.

I'm not actually against an up and comer. To me though Herrman hasn't done enough yet. If I was going to hire an up and comer right now it would be Brian Harsin.

Real Ale Devils Backbone would be a nice choice.

This is why you have the LHN. Pick the biggest name out there and write the biggest check you can plus $1. Everyone has a price, and UT has more money than anyone.

If reality is Les Miles --- then keep Strong!
The reason I say it's not reality is because although Texas can offer basically anything they aren't going to go way over the market. They'd pay say a Dabo 10 million to come to Texas. That's about what the elite coaches are getting. Not sure they'd go beyond that.

I am unwrapping a WhataBurger with cheese and Japs all the way with a 6 pack of Shiner beer and never fired up the grill....

You are probably right, but why not? The football team isn't a corporation that is growing retained earnings, its about winning NOW. UT gets $20 million/year from LHN (is that right?) that no one else gets. Take advantage of it!
