What the Hell are you talking about?! He should have entered the Portal and gone to tOSU or ND since Arch will be the starter next year. UT is clearly ready to move on from QE and start Arch. He already transferred from tOSU to UT, so I have no idea what the rental QB statement means. Another year would not hurt him. He will be at best a 2nd Day draft pick. He could make more money and improve his skills and draft stock by staying another year.

Ewers has 4 years in college and and 3 years as a starter. He is what he is at this point. I don't see him falling past the third round. High end backups are expensive. A 3rd round pick will be cheap for 4 years.

It's tough for me to put those wishbone QBs in there over guys that actually threw the football....especially since I didn't see them play. If I watched them play, I would probably have a different POV.

Texas dominated teams with the Wishbone. Once opponents learned how to defend it, it disappeared as quickly as it arrived. Some of my favorite memories of Texas football.

Weevil....since it was before your time.....allow me.....The wishbone started out as a non pre called play. The call was left or right....It all started the same way.....QB puts the ball in FB belly...it the tackle is coming, he pulls it and takes off. The two tailbacks trail. If it is going right, the right tail back looks for someone to block while turning upfield. If the end is coming in the QB tosses a no lookie lateral(pass) to the trailing TB and away they go. If the end is not coming, the QB keeps it.

In the end it was complicated as hell, but simple at the same time. DKR used to joke about it being a 3 yd in a cloud of dust offense that got 500 yds of offense a game.

He borrowed that from Woody Hayes, but still a memorable quote.
