Link to the New LSR Top 100 for 2018
Ok, let's do a little housecleaning before we too deep into the rankings...
I. I plan on doing a much more comprehensive update in January once the all-star games and final evaluation tools are in place. I somewhat considered this a mini-update of sorts, with much more focus on the top half of the list than the bottom half.
I just needed to get this first part done. Considering this is the 10th version of this list, there weren't a ton of monster changes, but there were some.
II. My focus turns to updating the 2019 list next week.
****
Let's talk about the changes and things that stand out.
a. There's a new No.1 ranked player - While the truth of the matter is that I basically have the top 5 guys in the state all graded with the some ranking... someone had to be first. Ultimately, Brennan Eagles is the freakiest dude in the state, has probably the highest pure upside and might be the only guy that I'm certain is a 65-35-type NFL prospect at this stage of his development. This is a guy that most has potential superstar at the next level written all over him IMO.
b. I feel like Anthony Cook, B.J.Foster, Jalen Green and Caden Sterns are No.2-No.5 and I don't really care how you rank them. The top five guys in the state are on another level than everyone else IMO. I didn't slot any other prospects with them in terms of grade.
c. I'm in freaking love with Texarkana Texas High wide receiver Tevailance Hunt and I don't care what anyone says... I ranked him at No.6.
If I overreacted on a kid from East Texas... fine... I can live with that.
Do yourself a favor... watch his senior film.

d. I joined the 247 bandwagon on DeMarvion Overshown. I've had him at various positions in the top 50 for a while, but while I think he's so raw that his floor is a little lower than some of the guys ahead of him, his upside might be higher than a few of those ahead of him as well. My happy balance with my slight concerns found a happy medium at No.8.
Again, if I overreacted on a kid from East Texas... fine... I can live with that.
e. Keondre Coburn, Bobby Brown, DaShaun White, Trevon Moehrig-Woodard, Starrland Baldwin and Spencer Sanders were all top 50 guys that made climbs.
f. I love Max Wright, but as a guy coming off of two serious knee injuries in the last three years, he just can't be a top 10-level prospect. His drop is completely injury related.
g. Leon O'Neal dropped because as a guy that plays like a high four star, but tests like a three-star, he needs to be somewhere in the middle of that range. I couldn't rate a guy that tested as he did in the top 10, but I love him as a player.
h. Others that took notable drops included Jarell Cherry, Calvin Avery and Jalen Mayden.
i. The entire freaking top 10 is comprised of wide receivers, defensive back and a single tight end. Welcome to football in the state of Texas in 2018.
