The best thing about college fb is tradition and the greatest tradition in college fb is the Army/Navy game. So many rivalries try to copy the TX/OK game and try to make a neutral site rivalry and its always a cheap imitation. We've seen some schools fall for Jerry Jones spiel and others have tried as well. FL/GA is not a neutral site rivalry he** its only a one hour bus ride from the FL campus to the Gator Bowl. But when the Army/Navy game is played in Philadelphia it can match the TX/OK game for being a neutral site because its almost the exact same distance from Philly to the Academies.
And speaking of the TX/OK game I like to call the Army/Navy game the sober version of the RRR
Let me tell you these schools have had a winning tradition. A total of 5 Heisman winners have played in this rivalry, Roger Staubach is not the only one. I've mentioned that Navy has a solid fb program and this time West Point is coming into the game with a winning record. It's great to watch a game where it doesn't matter what the w/l records are, a game where you can root for both teams. And I don't care what your politics are even an unapologetic Bernie Sanders like me gets goosebumps watching West Point's long gray line, and Brigade of Midshipmen marching into the stadium. And then at the end of the game both teams stand for both alma mater's. The losing team goes first. Can you imagine TX/OK doing that? But I've noticed that sometimes when someone is playing a service academy they stand for the alma mater as well.
Now that's respect.
If you don't like the Army/Navy game I doubt if I would hang around with you.
