OK, so many of you can't see this elephant, but after the euphoria of yesterday, I think we need to address the issue of the kicking game. How do we look for this fall? I contend the UT kicking game has always been worth 1-2 wins or losses per year.

We have Nick Jordan (Sr) back for kickoffs, Michael Dickson (So) back for punting and a new kid Max Allan (Fr) as a preferred walkon for field goals. I'm sure they'll open up the FG competition with some more walkons.

I agree this is a huge part of the equation. UT was lucky for decades with clutch FG kickers. The Nick Rose experience brought that into focus. Also, every time I see Mason Crosby kicking FGs for the Packers, I remember that we didn't offer that Georgetown kid a scholarship and he ran off to Colorado. Can't ignore kickers.

In honor of his soon to be over career:

Here we are, a day after a glorious NSD, and we're taking about an idiot kicker.

I thought this thread was going to be about who the starter at QB was going to be.

Well, we "only" have five, with another next year. Someone will emerge. I think QB could be a problem in 2016, but not thereafter. It will even be a strength. A fair number of great recruits don't pan out. A good kicker usually does.

I was gonna start this thread thinking about the QB situation, but I posted my thoughts on that in the spring football 2 deep thread......anyway, without repeating that we do have 5 Scholorship QB's on campus at this very minute.......pretty equal starting position for all of them. I want a clear cut winner to emerge as to not have a divided locker room......gentlemen...start your engines!

I thought it was going to be about Bevo. We're still in need of a Bevo!!!

I'm sure they're already narrowing it down for Bevo. They said he wouldn't be presented until opening day in September. Kind of cook that his debut will be a big game like Notre Dame. Hopefully the game helps make it memorable more than forgettable.

Priorities & baby steps... We needed to stock the D-Line with quality talent, check. We needed to stock the O-Line with quality talent, check. We needed another scholarship QB, check. We needed to cherry-pick top talent at the skill positions on offense & defense, check. Combine that with our new offense (under the new OC & OL coaches) and the Horns should add 3 additional wins this year.

I'd like to see us recruit (as in offer a scholarship to) an elite kicker every other year. Not the most glamorous position, obviously, but it's extremely important. I want to see more Hunter Lawrences and Justin Tuckers and fewer Dusty Mangums and David Pinos (and the others we've had here recently).

While Mangum wasn't the greatest, that dude was nails compared to Jordan. Hell Pino even looks not so bad now that we have Jordan. Lol.

I'd kill for another Tucker or Bailey.
