Of course he couldn’t because they were lies. That was in October 2016 before the election. Steele gave them no proof, no names of sub sources, and stopped cooperating. The FBI knew in October that Steele was full of crap.

So the question is, if anonymous allegations in the dossier couldn’t even be minimally verified by Steele after he was offered one million dollars why did Comey brief Obama and Trump about it 2 months later on Jan 6? Of course it was the illegal leaking about of that briefing which gave CNN the hook that they needed to report on the dossier. Why didn’t Comey explain to Trump fully just how unreliable the allegations were? Why did the FBI use it in FISA applications? Why did the intelligence community add it to their assessment on Russian intervention? Why are we just hearing about this now after Mueller, Horowitz, and the Sen Intel report?
